What do vegetarian zombies say?
Right now I'm doing my best to avoid grains, or should I say "...arghhh... graaaainzzz..." Smile For me, at least, going low-carb seems to be the most successful way to lose weight. Best of all, I find I'm not getting the dreaded late-afternoon energy crash that really *does* make me feel like a brain-dead zombie!

Green Coffee Bean Supplements
Not using green coffee bean supplements, but I am drinking about 4 - 5 cups of coffee per day. I know it's helped with the weight loss, especially at the beginning.

I've been a coffee drinker most of my adult life, though the daily quantity has varied. Before I started getting serious about losing weight, I was always excruciatingly tired in the afternoons, to the point where I was useless at work. (Sometimes I was so desperately tired I slipped off to nap in my car. *Not* proud of this!) Razz Drinking coffee in the afternoon to try to stay alert just made me "tired and wired".

Since then, I've adapted Tim Ferriss's "bulletproof coffee" idea and now have just coffee for breakfast (with milk or cream -- he puts butter in his!!!), and coffee with lunch. No more afternoon slump! And the weight loss speaks for itself -- I'm down almost 30 pounds since May. As long as I'm losing weight, I'll never be without my coffee. Smile Hope this helps!

Healthy Grocery Store Baking Cookies?
Hoser and Zoe, thanks for the recipes! I clicked, I saw, I saved. Smile

Jess, if you mean the cookie mixes in a box, most of them are not very diet-friendly -- they have a lot of sugar. You might do better using a "diet" cake mix of your choice to make cake mix cookies, which are super easy! Smile

IBS or Celiac
Yes, exactly! Do what's right for your body. Doctors are only human and have biases like everybody else. This doc may want to diagnose you with an illness he thinks he can treat successfully. Nobody likes to fail, least of all doctors, who tend to be more arrogant than the average person (I say this in the nicest possible way, as someone who has at least one MD and/or RN in every generation of my family!).

IMHO, some degree of arrogance is required to be an effective doctor, especially a surgeon, because surgeons have to believe, firmly, in their hearts, that they have the knowledge and skill to pick up a knife and cut a person wide open, and not only not kill them, but actually *make them better*. Seems to me that takes major chutzpah! Smile

That said, since this particular gastro doc isn't listening to you at all, maybe it's time to find another one??? Best of luck to you, whatever happens!

need help
I agree with all the above posters who say BF just needs to eat what you're eating. And if there's no known medical cause for his being underweight, BF should get himself to the doctor, in case he's hyperthyroid or has some other medical condition that keeps him from gaining weight. (Even if he's the sort who hate, hate, hate to go to the doctor and will resist the idea with all their might, unless they're on the floor writhing in pain or bleeding out from a missing limb.)
