hbkim's Journal, 24 November 2010

Hooray, lost another .75, so I've met my goal (barely) of getting UNDER 150 lbs by Thanksgiving! Going to have a short day in the office, then get going on errands and cooking. Some months ago, I had the brilliant idea of scheduling my kids' doctor's appointments for today bc they have no school. I don't know what I was thinking! Didn't I know that I should be busy cooking for Thanksgiving? So, my niece has to see the orthodontist and dermatologist; my daughter, the endocrinologist. Then I'll get going on the cranberry-orange sauce and peeling the chestnuts for the stuffing.
149.5 lb Lost so far: 17.5 lb.    Still to go: 24.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Congratulations, your weight has been cooperating with you, just keep up what you are doing. I cant believe that was my goal when I started messing up my body, just to get under 150. Now I have sooo much further to go, but at least I found out what I was doing wrong and corrected it, just wish I had known sooner. Are you going to move to OWL soon?

Thanks, Stef and Janet. I'm going to keep on OWL for another 10 lbs, until I hit 140. I was re-reading Atkins and it says you can stay on OWL for up to 6 months (or longer, if necessary) or until you're within 10 lbs of your goal weight. I started Atkins on Aug 23 so I'm only 3 months on Induction. I figure 140 is a good point for me to move onto OWL.

Sounds good, I am just re-reading the book. I never even bothered to read about OWL and the last two phases, since I will be on induction for a long while. But did notice where it suggested moving on to pre-maintenance when you are about 10 lbs from goal. Without going above my 20 net, I find I can have some macadamia nuts once in a while, I had a big can I bought right before I started and dont want to waste them. I put them in the freezer, and have used them for emergencies on both of my trips. The ones I brought back and didn't eat last week are sitting on the counter tempting me, and I had some yesterday and the day before. At least I know they dont cause a problem, and I can still lose. They come in handy as they are filling and satisfying in a pinch. 1 oz is enough to do it.

Totally understand, Janet. I have the same feelings about wine and berries that you have about macadamia nuts :) I do occasionally indulge even though they're not strictly on Induction.
