I'm a 50-year-old wife and mother of 2 and full-time working lawyer. I started Atkins on Aug 23, 2010 at 167 lbs and my goal weight is 125 lbs (my wedding weight). On Atkins, I lost 25 lbs but regained nearly all of it. I'm only 5'2" tall, so every 5 lb loss/gain makes a big difference on me.

Issues with updates
Thank you. I see today that my weight loss ticker is fixed! I don't know what did it, though. I tried both the UK and Australia websites, so one of them must've worked. Thanks!

Issues with updates
I tried logging onto the UK website. When I reset my account settings there, my weight loss ticker was fixed on the UK site. But when I log back onto the US site, my weight loss ticker is still frozen at 0 lbs lost. Anyone know how to get the ticker unstuck on the US site?

Atkins Day 2
Good job! Maybe a snack of cheese at night will help with those hunger pangs. It truly is one day at a time.

Did anyone count calories on Thanksgiving?
No, I didn't count calories for Thanksgiving dinner. It would be hard for me to guesstimate how many calories I consumed. I started the day with my usual 45 minutes on the treadmill for 2.6 miles, hill intervals up to 7.0 grade. I had a late breakfast, my usual bacon and eggs; skipped lunch. While the turkey was roasting in the oven, I cleaned the house to get ready for guests, so I got some extra exercise there.

At dinner, I filled up mostly on my Atkins-friendly foods, i.e. turkey, roasted brussel sprouts and string beans sauteed with onions and bacon. I had a spoonful of orange-cranberry relish; a spoonful of chestnut-sausage stuffing. My daughter made 3 home-made desserts: cheesecake, apple pie and pecan pie. I had a sliver of each; just enough to enjoy the taste and give her well-deserved compliments on her baking. My brother brought 3 delicious wines to dinner: a Sancerre, a Grand Cru Chablis and a red Bordeaux. I had a small glass of each. I really enjoyed my Thanksgiving dinner, with no regrets whatsoever.

I know many others on Atkins made Atkins-friendly desserts and worked really hard to stay on track, but I didn't want to break family traditions (like my daughter's home-made desserts) and I certainly didn't want to miss out on the wines that my brother brought. I got onto the scale this morning with some trepidation, but was pleasantly surprised to see no weight gain. So, I think my compromise worked for me. For Christmas, I don't think I will do anything differently.

P.S. I just went back and tried to input the various recipes we ate at Thanksgiving. I come out at about 1500 calories at dinner; 1870 for the day. But I could be off, by a lot.

The RULES - please help
Hi Hedeely. Congrats on losing 24 lbs already. If you're sticking to Induction, the rules are on the Atkins website. http://www.atkins.com/Program/Phase1/HowtoDoInductionRight.aspx

As for your specific questions re artificial sweeteners, Atkins says no more than 3 packets of artificial sweeteners a day, and each one counts as 1g of carb.
They're known to cause some people to stall, so be careful with them. Ditto with the diet soda, which also contains artificial sweeteners.

I don't think there's a limit on mayonnaise. If you're sticking with Induction, then you need to stick with 20 net carbs per day, so just calculate the number of carbs in the brand of mayo you're using and add that to your food journal.
