nmarsden's Journal, 13 August 2010

I have a confession: I've been avoiding FS for a few days. I broke my diet big time on Wednesday. My excuse was that the power was off in my apartment when I woke up and I had nothing to eat that didn't require cooking (I have an electric stove). So I went out and had Mcdonald's and later on that day, since I couldn't return home before work, I had some Clam Chowder for lunch and a burrito for dinner. I also had a piece of chocolate cake for a snack.

To my surprise, I only gained a pound the next day. I returned to Atkins yesterday with one small cheat (a small McFlurry). I had a very hard time resisting temptation after the major cheating day on Wednesday. I had to rush out of an Applebees (where I had a bunless burger and broccoli) so I wouldn't order the big ice cream sunday that was calling out to me. I didn't get sick from eating the carbs as I thought I would. If I had, resistance would have been easier.

Today, I am down 1/2 pound from yesterday's weight of 272.8 and I'm back on the Atkins track. I have been in induction since I started so I didn't have to change anything.

So, a little thing like a power outage knocked me off track, but the damage wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be. I'm getting back on track again. I feel guilty for cheating, though I've been doing great with the weight loss so far. I shouldn't feel bad. There will always be wrenches and forks in the road. Just gotta accept it and move on.
272.2 lb Lost so far: 12.8 lb.    Still to go: 87.2 lb.    Diet followed poorly.
gaining 1.2 lb a week

NMarsden...I am so glad that you put all that out here...it's important to share our "human" side...and to also let us all know that you are back on the horse that threw you. All we have is today, and for today, you are doing just fine. Keep up the good work...good to be here.

Well it's wonderful to know that you are human like the rest of us. I don't know if anyone can actually say they were 100% EVER. If we were all that good, we wouldn't have weight issues to begin with. Put it all behind you and venture on. And don't let those cravings get the best of you.

Thanks for the encouragement people! It's taking longer than I thought to get back on the bus. It is SOOOO hard to resist once you've had that little taste. Gonna try again tomorrow. :)
