madaboutmoose's Journal, 30 July 2010

Finally it is Friday once again.

Let's see ... switching furniture around went fairly smoothly. The only thing I broke was a fingernail!! I have a 'real' desk now ... not new but new to me. I was here until about 7:30 last night so it was a long day since I arrive at 7:30 am!!

Today will be a shorter day. I have a chance to win $500 tonight!! Cross those fingers, toes, and eyes for me!!

I was down another 1.6 lbs this morning bringing me to an even 185. Of course my husband wants Chinese food tonight. Hmmmm. Sodium. So ... even if I stay 'on track' today (which I fully intend on doing) I'll likely see an up fluct tomorrow. I have to laugh though ... when I started this journey well over year ago and my original goal was 175 my husband kept telling me it was too low and 185 should be what I aimed for. Of course I disagreed with him because for some crazy reason I have always wanted to see 175. It seems I hang out most often around 185ish!! Maybe I will see 175 ... maybe I won't. What matters more is that I feel good, I was able to easily slide on a size 10 fitted skirt this morning, and I am learning to be more at peace with myself physically. I would venture to guess if I seriously cut back I might indeed be able to push it lower but I haven't seriously done that. I'm not saying it won't happen I am only saying that I am not going to feel like I have 'failed' if I don't. I'm having way too much fun enjoying life to let that number determine how I feel.

Grateful I am ...

1. for classic rock this morning on the radio ... a little ZZ Top, Jethro Tull, Rolling Stones, and then an Elvis Costello song that brought back fond memories of a favorite 'exotic dancer' we used to see regularly.

2. for a CHANCE to win money!!!

3. for sleeping well last night ... it makes such a difference!!

4. the opportunity to support parents doing their best to do better by their kids than was done for them.

5. and ... in honor of Abba ... a government job where indeed I can get paid to move furniture!!! While working for the State certainly has its drawbacks it also has its benefits!!!

Reading comments from yesterday's journal I am so grateful that others, on this journey with me, are working at riding the scale waves without feeling 'bad' about themselves; are conscious of practicing kindness towards themselves; are willing to share their thoughts, feelings, observations, discoveries, and frustrations along the way. The company I have found here continues to be a HUGE blessing to me. Enjoy the day!!

Great positive attitude Moose! I'm learning to be more content with my weight fluctuation "waves" on my journey, in large part because of your journals! I'm not "overweight" any more and for that I'm grateful. If I get to my goal, great, if not... at least I'm being HEALTHY. :)

I see 175 in your immediate future and 185 being established as a ceiling. I've heard it said that I am clairvoyant. ;-) Nice drop!

We weigh the same, so obviously I think it's the perfect weight :). I'm still actively trying to get to 180. Or will be when I stop being sick. Then I'm going to stop trying to lose pounds. I feel very happy that you are a similar size to me. It can be very difficult when most women are still quite fat at 180. But you and I are built like amazon warriors not frail princesses and there is a beauty to that too. I think I'll dress up like Xena Warrior Princess for halloween because I finally feel proud of my strong body :). Enjoy the Chinese, I'm feeling like pizza tonight, myself.

LOL Kate!!! Yes ... I often describe myself as an Amazon!! Funny you should mention 'princess'. My husband and I met through a personal ad ... back before the days of internet dating sites. He responded to my ad writing that he was not looking for a 'princess or a little girl lost'!! I'm far from either so I wrote back. The rest is history!! LOL!!! Everyday I get better at embracing my tallness, my strength, my vitality!! So much fun!! Feel better soon my friend!!

Switching Furniture. A light bulb moment for me recently. This past May I purchased what I thought was a really cool vintage furniture group from an Estate Sale where the woman had recently reupholstered this 1950 something beauty in Emerald green. My Mother-in-law had lived with us for four years and when she moved the room was dubbed to be my husbands T.V. whatever room but he hadn't done anything so I bought furniture for our 1942 home and vacant room. Well, he hates it and I love it. Recently, It occured to me that all we needed to do was switch the leather recliners in our main room for the vintage furniture in my husbands Main Room and we are a happy couple once again. Lol, I have a lot of painting to do but am looking forward to some really cool spaces. Towanda!!!
