Lucybell33's Journal, 08 April 2008

So, yesterday's record low didn't last long and the somewhat alarming relentless climb back up continues. I'm trying hard not to panic and be rational about this.

The only thing I can think of is that all the stress leading up to next week's exam is increasing my cortisol levels and this is what's causing the weight gain. However, I'm not experiencing any other symptoms, like excessive fatigue, so I don't really know. I'm just going to keep plugging away and hope to see the scales moving more appropriately soon.

Great attitude toward the scales. It's encouraging to see everyone learning to deal with our former nemeses in a calm and rational manner. It's definitely a process, though! Keep up the great effort and the scale will have to reflect it eventually.

It's probably just a temporary gain. The scale does fluctuate. Maybe you had too much sodium and need to flush it out with extra water? At any rate, stay focused and be proud of how far you've come! Know you will keep making progress and you will reach your goals, but let your body take the time it needs. Have a great day!

Thank you both. I did have smoked mackerel for dinner last night, so perhaps that didn't help. I just need to rise above it and focus on keeping up the hard work in the knowledge that the scales have got to reflect it eventually!

Smoked mackerel... prolly loaded with salt and retention!! lol :) I'm sure you'll be fine with some good choices and lots of water. Make a good meal plan for the next four days and you'll be GREAT, I'm sure of it! :)

Thanks BT - I'm sure you're right! I always plan my meals out a week at a time, a week in advance, so I can get my online shopping order lined up (I'm pretty obsessive about planning!). The smoked mackerel probably wasn't the best choice in terms of sodium content - hopefully the rest of the week will be better!
