Good Morning! Wouldn't you know ... when I can sleep in I wake up!! Of course perhaps there is an opportunity for a nap today ... one never knows!

A little drop on the scale this morning. I'll take it. I did okay yesterday despite the second potluck at work. I managed to stay away except for one tiny sliver of cake I found in the break room. Damn cake!!

I have strict instructions from my dear husband to take it easy today. I was going to drive to the hospital and visit FIL but he said no. My husband, not my FIL. His vital signs are stable but his mind appears to be tapioca. He wasn't anymore communicative when his brother visited yesterday than when no family is there. I do not think that is a positive sign. I wish he had not done the surgery. I fear he will never be himself again. It is sad, but it was his choice. There is still some chance of recovery but I know with elderly people, sometimes a major surgery is just too much. Life certainly can change quickly.

At the end of my work day yesterday I was feeling completely overwhelmed. So behind. But I left. I left my pile of "to do" files sitting there, realizing that I can only do what I can do. My "perfectionist" tendencies get the better of me sometimes. Of course, the furlough hours have cut into work time so it isn't like I am not doing my job. There simply aren't enough hours in the week to do the work. With my hospital jaunt I was gone 2 days. Then add the furlough and there is another day. I'll be gone 2 days next week at training. So, breathe deeply, do what I can and relax. It will get done eventually.

The weather is GORGEOUS here. Chilly in the morning and evenings but bright blue skies and SUNSHINE!!! So nice to see and feel. This weekend is the annual "Lost in the 50's" celebration. Old cars will line the downtown area, music will be blasting, town will be hopping. I don't think we'll go ... but at least those attending will have nice weather for a change. It is quite the event for our little town.

For now I'm pondering ... shall I have breakfast first or walk the dog? I'll do some time on my elliptical, tend to some bills, and perhaps start the laundry so I don't have to do it this weekend. The plan is to stay on track with eating and exercise. I prefer being closer to the blue line then where I am currently at. However, given recent events, between travel and crisis, I do think I'm doing okay.

My thoughts are with you all ... near and far!! Flaxseed, you are most on my mind as you walk through this time with OH ... do your best to take care of yourself, as you told me ... stay in this moment as much as you can ... know that even though we here at fatsecret cannot be with you physically ... we are with your in spirit and mind and are always here to listen and support you.

I've neglected my grateful list lately so here is one for today ...

I am grateful for ...

1. Sunshine and blue skies
2. Walks with Blue and the entertainment his antics bring
3. My friends, near and far, who encourage me, give me hell, and help maintain my sanity!!
4. sweet strawberries
5. Mom getting away for a 'miniature' weekend to play with her 'miniature' friends!!!

Have a fabulous Friday. As always, remember to practice kindness, towards yourself and others. Life is a journey with many twists and turns ... I'm going to do my best to enjoy each moment, which means being present even when things are difficult and remembering that being able to feel great sadness/pain also means I am able to feel great joy!!

Take care!!

I so hope you got to relax, that you enjoyed the sunshine AND took a nap...My internal clock goes off by 6 am every day...working or not...Like you, I'm a bit overwhelmed at work with LOTS to catch up on...but we can only do so much in an 8 or 9 hour day!! It's good you took a rest from the hospital and travel today...and practiced the *kindness towards yourself* today!! Hope your Friday evening is wonderful...huggggs

I did not take a nap. I rarely do!! I got the laundry done, a bathroom cleaned, and did 90 minutes on the elliptical, and painted my toes!! Now we are watching Inglourious Basterds ... which I'm not really all that into but hubby wanted to watch it so I'm keeping him company!! LOL!! We'll go see FIL tomorrow. Felt good to get the laundry done and the upstairs bathroom spanky clean!!
