I've been SO hungry today.

This was not a great state to be in when I picked up my toddler from nursery this evening. He was undertaking the incredibly important task of stacking the cups, so had no interest in going home whatsoever. I managed to get his shoes on whilst he continued the stacking task, but then all hell broke lose when I had the audacity to remove the cups from his hand so that I could put his coat on! The ensuing screaming fit continued the entire time I struggled to put his coat on (which naturally took about 10 times longer than usual as a result), it continued as I carried him down the stairs, through the double set of doors and into the car. Thankfully, I managed to get him strapped into the car - and then the soothing sound of the 5pm news on radio 4 managed to calm him down! He was absolutely fine by the time we got home, thank goodness!! He's supposed to be a Wonderful One, not a Terrible Two yet!!!

Who'd have thought this little angel could be such a monster at times??

However, did I stave off the pre-dinner starvation with my preferred choice of toast with marmite? No - a clementine!

And did I give in to stress eating and order in pizza? No - I just went on and cooked my planned Italian Creamy Pasta! Besides, it's actually quicker to cook that than Domino's could deliver a pizza!!

Now, my monster boy is asleep, I'm no longer starving and I have a nice cup of tea. All is good in the world again, and I'm ready to check up on all my buddies! :D

Oh - those days are heck, aren't they? FYI - both my children started the TTs (terrible twos and threes - you'll find it sometimes takes until 4 to be rid of it) by 18 months. Lovely - however, my son is all the better for it and my daughter is the bugger right now (she'll be 3 in May). Good job in sticking to your diet and not giving into that terrible, yet yummy, comfort food.

It can last until they're 4???? I so don't want to hear that!! He's been a sweetie today - no monster-ish behaviour so far...

Unfortunately, I concur with softballrn. I found it was the terrible 3's. They were much worse than the 2's. And in comparing boys to girls among my friends at the time, we noticed the boys were wound a lot tighter than the girls, literally bouncing off the walls! But thankfully, it does get better and there are lots of wonderful moments to balance out the bad. Like they say, you spend the first years of their lives trying to get them to speak and the next 16 telling them to be quiet!

Aw, what a cutie!! It seems quite impossible to look at them and imagine them being such monsters at times. But having 3 boys myself... oh boy, I definitely know that they can be! Arghh... it does get better, they just act out there little tantrums in different ways. We get slamming doors from our 11 year old... crashing about upstairs... goodness knows what the neighbours must think sometimes!! Good on you for staying calm and not giving in to food temptations though... it can certainly be tempting when you're having a hard time. Hope you're now having a nice relaxing evening though... it certainly sounds like you really deserve it! :o)

Thanks everyone. I guess he's just spoilt us so far by being so good! I had a chat with a couple of my friends, and at least feel like he is normal, and that we haven't actually created a monster. He was funny last night. I gave him a little packet of raisin & seed cookies and I asked him if mummy could have one. He immediately closed the packet and said "gone"! Good for mummy's diet - but what a cheeky monkey!! I guess it's these cute little moment I need to remember when he's being a pickle!
