gilliansings's Journal, 31 May 2014

Thank you, CalynLZ for the great idea. Decided that I too would like a visible peek at how I've done over the last 4 months of this journey:

February........... 3 lbs. lost
March.............. 6.5 lbs. lost
April............... 4 lbs. lost
May................ 3.5 lbs. lost

Total Weight Lost.. 17 lbs.

Measurements:

Inches lost off Waist........ 2.5
Inches lost off Chest........ 2
Inches lost off Hips......... 2.75
Inches lost off each Thigh... 1.5

Total Inches Lost............ 10.25

March looks like an anomaly, but it makes sense. First of all, I was at my peak in terms of having worked up to exercising 6 days/week. Second, I was still in the first flush of my body adjusting to the new RDI. Thirdly, there were more weeks in March compared to February.

April led to some exacerbation of my back issues, so the exercise frequency decreased. Considering an anniversary trip and Easter, I was very happy with that month.

May went as expected, with no gain or loss during my trip to California.

Just need to keep doing what I'm doing and I'll reach that goal of 30 lbs. lost by Christmas!

Yes, LuC2, you do! Although, honestly, how one's clothes fit is a pretty good indicator as well. Some of the measurements I have taken in the past have so little change over time that I don't even bother to report them. I did record them, but whatever. Those measurements are wrist, lower arm, upper arm, and calf. I think those measurements go up and down depending on muscle growth as we exercise. I would lose a little in my upper arm and then have it go up again as my biceps and triceps developed. So, basically, not worth keeping track of. Good luck!

Thanks Deb_N and SherrieC! Yesterday when I was exercising, I had this moment where I was watching my leg do these ballet type, controlled moves and I thought, "Wow! My leg looks so strong and defined!" I realized that even if I did not lose a single additional pound, I feel good about where I am and will continue exercising to feel good.

It sure is nice to put things into perspective now isn't it?!? I love following my results in a spread sheet I have made. It holds me accountable and when I am having a not so successful weight loss week I can look at the previous weeks and when I think I've only lost x, I picture pounds of butter and so far I've lost 40.6 POUNDS of BUTTER....so I keep going. Sounds a little disgusting when you look at that way I suppose, but it sure is motivating to me....you have lost 17 lbs of butter!!! Keep up the GREAT WORK! :)

Nice steady progress there. It's good to count the inches too, it's not all just about the scale. Good job!

It's always better to look at how far you've come instead of worrying how far you have to go
