gilliansings's Journal, 04 June 2014

Normally I would be freaking out and saying, "What? How the heck did I lose 2 lbs?" The only reason I'm not questioning it more is that I sort of counted on skipping a week of weight loss with my trip to CA, although I still ate fairly careful and got plenty of exercise while gone (and jumped right back on the wagon when I got home), so I'll count 1 lb. for last week and one pound lost since getting back.

That means I am only 1 lb. from the goal I set myself of losing 20 lbs. by Independence Day. I think I can lose 1 lb. by then, lol.

I guess I just find it comical how our bodies work. I probably had more days right at my RDI while on vacation and a couple pretty close to it since I've been back. So, my body apparently liked it! I'm not saying I'll be upping my intake just based on this one weigh in, but it is a reminder that sometimes we are eating too little.

I'll be attending my son's girlfriend's high school graduation tomorrow. It seems unreal that they first started dating when she was a freshman. She started a new job on Sunday and my son still has yet to get a job. Sigh...

Can't wait to go to my baby sister's college graduation in a couple weeks. My other sister will be in town, so we'll all get some girl time.

Have a great week everyone! Happy "hump" day, lol.

if we gain weight when we give it our freaking best, and we lose weight going on a trip... maybe we are all taking this weightloss thing all wrong! Maybe we should scare the weight off with hamburgers and fries... who knows? Duh!!!

No joke, Maude! I guess the real lesson in this is that, the majority of the time we need to buckle down and make good choices, but when we really want a stinkin' burger and fries, make it the best one you can find and just ENJOY IT!!! You just can't make it too much of a habit. I love that since joining this site, for the most part I just am not as interested in bread products as I used to be. Sometimes I crave them and find a way to satisfy that craving. I don't overindulge, so it's not that I get SICK, but I just find it wasn't very satisfying. It sure makes it easier to not eat them the rest of the time!

Awesome to read :) I agree with what you have said. I personally make good choices most of the time, so when I want to give in to a temptation every now and then, it's a choice that I can make and think, "Wow, this is what I did all the time!" The hard work I'm putting into transitioning my eating habits is great. I'll endulge here and there, but I'm still doing great. So are you!

I've been working not to punish myself. If I'm hungry, genuinely hungry, then I rationalize that my body knows best and I LISTEN. That's been some of the hardest work...listening to my body to determine full vs hungry vs cravings vs greedy! I've ignored those signals for as long as I can remember. :D

sounds like a fun weekend, it is surprising when on vacation to actually not undo all the hard work you have accomplished. It is such a GREAT feeling to be able to just live life and do well on food intake too. we are taking pizza to my in-laws tonight. ugh, one of my favorite foods. gotta go make a hugh salad to take with me. I am going to try real hard.
