Ruhu's Journal, 25 April 2014

Yesterday's doggie spa day proved more expensive than usual:)… she wasn't ready after my meditation workshop ended, so rather than go home & back out to get her, I went shopping! I have a favorite ladies shop in our town where they know me, my size and tastes, and always seem to have things I like. They did not disappoint yesterday & I came home with a couple of tops, capri jeans & a long summer dress… plus a sparkling pup!

And the 100 day celebration continues today with lunch with my MIL & my good friend, then my haircut & color after. Guess that makes it a 100 day week! But, the party is then over as I'll spend the weekend working -- I have to get back to those monthly & quarterly bookkeeping deadlines… but there's always tomorrow!

The meditation workshop was again great! Its at a local yoga studio in Greenwich, CT and given by David Nichtern who is based in NYC but lectures all over, from what I understand. After reading Isabel's article on forming new habits, I'm going to focus on making it a habit to meditate for 5-10 minutes a day 4-5 times a week, and plan to do so after I workout each morning and before I then get on with my day….

which is what I must do now, so I can get to tabata spin. But, first, I'll pray --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way throughout this one day and each one meal, bite, moment, thought & emotion. I'm so very grateful for each of beautiful you, my family & IRL friends, bulletproof coffee, surprise shopping trips, celebrating accomplishments, and having the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox

Haha, expensive doggie spa day indeed. Glad you got some nice things and enjoyed your meditation workshop. I enjoy the meditative quality of my yoga dvd, but need to find a way to survive some of the challenges physically! I do better with my walking and strength training. Maybe I just need to play the final 10 minutes of the workout session to do the calming "namaste" part! Or record just the music and the woman's calming voice and meditate to that! Love what namramn1 said about what "ruhu" means in her mother tongue. Beautiful! (BTW, my middle name is Ruth and I've noticed some people calling you Ruth - is that your "actual" name, as opposed to your screen name of Ruhu?)

Hi Ruhu, How wonderful that you are using so many tools and ways to nurture yourself and grow spiritually. Thank you for your support, too. I'm happy you've found a store that works for you. I'm a reluctant shopper, and would love to find a place that "gets" me. I find EFT (emotional freedom technique) very helpful as I follow my path and discover resistance, fear, numbing, etc. Have you read Brené Brown's books ?- I Thought It Was Just Me (but it isn't), The Gifts of Imperfection, and Daring Greatly. I really think they might be just your cup of tea, so to speak. I recommend them to everyone on the path to self-love, health, and wholeness. Namasté, bright spirit.
