ChristyLA's Journal, 22 April 2014

I started my workout routine yesterday, walking 3.5 miles in 60 minutes. I walked all around the city as fast as I could, running errands, stopping at four different places. It took me 2 hours total, which includes the time I spent inside the different places. It was a beautiful day out! On my way home, I walked 3/4 mile carrying two large, heavy bags of groceries. It was difficult! The walk really wore me out, and my leg muscles - my whole body, really - was sore afterwards, but I felt great doing it and after. I don't think I've ever walked for that long a time or distance (close, but not quite). Today, I don't feel sore, and I'm ready and motivated to tackle my next workout! I think I'll do a DVD workout and go for a short walk (1/2 mile). What workout are you doing - or have done - today?

Mixing physical activity with running errands is a great way to optimize time! :). Today was supposed to be my Shoulder and Abs day: (Seated Bent Over Raises (dumbbell)/ Barbell Upright Rows?/ Arnold Press/ Crunches/ Leg Raises/ Plank/ Leg Raises or Hanging Knee Raises and 30 minutes indoor cycling, but I'm interrupting exercise for a few days because I'm slightly sick lol. Keep doing what you're doing! :) Exercise is great help and makes you feel good. Just don't overdo it. When you feel less energetic, do it less intensely. ;)

Due to the Ab Challenge, or Ab Massacre as I like to call it, I have been doing leg raises instead of the knee raises :)

I love power-walking, and having a purpose - destination(s) to go to - increases my motivation to do it. I think I did overdo it, especially since it was my first day of working out after a couple of months, but I figured "what the heck, I have all these places to go to, I might as well get them all done today!" I don't regret it. I had fun and felt accomplished for getting all my errands done on foot. I hope you feel better soon, because it sounds like your workouts are really important to you :)

Keep up the good work. I am also walking daily around a trail in my neighborhood. Additionally, I use dvd’s. Walk away the pounds, t 25, and yoga videos. I am ready

You don't have anything to regret! :) Thanks Christy! Exercise definitely is important in the way that it not only contributes to my better physical shape, but I also feel much better psychologically speaking when I'm on an exercise routine! :) It's like a constant healthy "high" you know ;) heheheh

I feel so good mentally from working out, Euheide. I think part of it is that I'm so proud of myself each time I do a workout :)

That is definitely a part of the feel good component of exercise. And it also makes you feel good for physical reasons. It's great overall! :)

I agree, Euheide. My body feels so much better - stronger and more capable - and it feels more alive, like improved circulation. My head is also clearer, my mood is better, and I feel more energy and more alert. It's definitely a wonder drug!
