Hello friends! I just wanted to say that today I discovered something truly AMAZING!!! something that I have been missing out on for my entire life!!! Something... Life changing :). Hold your breath.... I am so nice that I am going to share with you this amazing discovery.... Drum roll..... Da da da dahhh.... Do you feel the suspense? Maybe I shouldnt tell you. You are all going to think I am crazy haha. Okay here goes.... I am talking about a ceramic cooking pan. LOL!!!! OMG I am in LOOOOOOVVVVEEEE!! I know that sounds funny but I am sooo serious! All this time I though I was a horrible cook (lol... Well the jury is still out on that... ). but last night I purchased my very first ceramic pan (I was going to buy the orgreenic pan but got a walmart ceramic pan for half the price instead... I am frugal!) and for lunch today I made shrimp and broccoli. normally Id have to put blobs of butter to keep it from sticking but I cooked with literally no sprays, oils, or butter. I only added some seasoning. And when I finished cooking everything slid right off the pan onto my plate. Nothing stuck behind, it just slid right off... Like magic! I think this is going to really help me start cooking healthier... And better ;) Like I said I didnt buy an expensive one, didnt even get a name brand just the walmart mainstay brand and I can slap myself for never trying it before. Anyone want my entire set of old name brand "nonstick" pans???? Nonstick my butt! I am donating those crappy things to the thrift shop and buying a whole set of ceramic pans. I cant belive I have been kept in the dark so long. I am no longer a cavewoman!!!! Seriously this is my recommendation for the day... If you are like me and have been cooking with calorie laden oils and butter or cooking spray (ps.... basically oil on a can) to keep food from sticking to the pan... Go out and buy a $10 ceramic pan and give it a try. ((((Hugs!!!))))

I totally agree about having the right pans. When I was more fiscally fat, I bought Scan Pans and they are made of solid non stick material that you can use metal utensils with. But I still use wooden or Teflon spatulas etc. The most important thing to remember about all cooking pans of any material is not to use cooking sprays. Never, nunca, nada! They cause the mysterious brown goop that stubbornly sticks to your cooking pans. Olive oil is the only cooking oil I use, and we do require healthy fat as a nutrient. All the cells in our bodies are made of a double lipid (fat) membrane. Without fat our cells degrade, and our body screams for food. Then the binging begins. Butter is a no no too, just cause it is saturated. However, if you must have a saturated fat to bake cookies and so on, real butter is the only way to go.

Ceramic are supposed be excellant. Most Teflon type pans are being taken off the market due to toxic fumes, bird owners have been warned about them for 20 plus years as they kill birds. Many air freshness also kill birds. Birds were used in mines to warn miners of toxic air.

I love that you discovered this. I've been watching the TV show "Chopped" and it's a cooking competition where they always use non-stick pans that can also go in the oven. I deducted that they use this brand: Zwilling JA Henckels Spirit Thermolon Frypan which can be found on Amazon. Very exciting stuff. They are safe at temps up to 500 degrees. If you have an over that goes hotter than that, then you're probably making brick oven pizza and don't need pans! Thank you for sharing, Jess.

I have a non stick restaurant pan that can go in the oven and 4 more that have to have their wooden handles protected. The one with no wood is cast aluminum that is simply cured. The other ones are cured carbon steel. No coatings i do use a tiny bit of olive oil brushed on for most things. Will have to check those out at walmart. The ceramic ones i've looked at were pretty expensive for my current budget. Have way too many pans any way.

Go to Target, I am not sure if that is a swear word or not, they have several lines of them and they ones I have are great. I would never use anything else.

Bruce I love target... and have a target credit card lol so I will check there to comaprison shop before I buy a whole set! Whole food nut thanks for all the great info!!! I have heard that about Teflon... but of course all my old pans are teflon... so Im extra glad to toss them! I think the one I have can go into the oven too... Ill have to double check. I was debating between a bunch of pans so kinda forget the featutes of this one. Blb2100... its about the same heaviness as my old pans. Im not sure what other info I habe since Its my first time trying it... but so far I love it! Mrsmole I love peeking at cooking shows... but I havent seen that one yet Ill have to check it out. IDK just the name of those pans sounds pricey!!!!
