Ruhu's Journal, 13 February 2014

The snow is here, but not quite as bad as they were predicting… yet! Sounds like the worst will hit midday then more overnight tonight. I'll stay in, do my deck of cards workout here again & get on with that To-Do list. Hopefully I can get out tomorrow for indoor tennis.

I'm feeling good, staying my course gluten, lactose & sugar aware and mindfully eaten choosing 16:8 IF when it feels right… or after yesterday's journal… just right. And, I'm mentally prepared for a potentially long weekend, just waiting to see if DH decides to go into work today, tomorrow & on Presidents Day Monday. I slept well & feel well rested, but as I'm getting used to my new toy, FitBit Force, I'm realizing even though I'm falling back to sleep, I wake quite often. Last night, while I was in bed for 8 hours, 6 1/2 of them were in restful sleep or 83%, which is still not bad compared to some night's I've had… 5 hrs or more is good to me!

My gadget has also shown me that while I get in more than enough active minutes, I rarely so far have reached the pre-set 10,000 steps daily goal. I'm usually more around 7500 steps. Something else to think about, but I'm sure is a result of the frigid winter temps & not getting out to even walk my doggie as much… she hasn't even wanted to!

Well, if I want to get that step count up, I'd better get on my way, of course, starting in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And for this one day and through each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way. I'm so very grateful for each of Joy-producing you, my family & IRL friends, having no where I have to go on this snowy day as I appreciate having the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox

Interesting tracking re your sleep. And I think 7,500 steps is pretty good, given the frigid temps. But as active as you are, working out every day, I'm surprised it's not more. Thinking about you as we share our coffee, hoping all works out with hubby and work and the week-end. Keep smiling :) Keep breathing. Hugs.

Ok... you're really tempting my long abandoned gadget craving with this fitbit thing - if only to see how well (or poorly) I do sleep. Then again, what would I do with that knowledge? I slept so soundly last night I woke in a startle this morning wondering where Mushy was ... I like those really deep sleeps like that, don't you? Sounds like you definitely have your plan for getting thru the day with or without snow ... my weather thingy on the computer is predicting 60's here today and I'm really looking forward to it. Have a wonderful day, Angel.

Ruhu, I use the Jawbone UP, very similar to your FitBit, and I'm always surprised when it shows me that it took me 33 minutes to fall asleep or that I woke up 3 times, and that while I was in bed for 8 hours, I only slept for 6'45". For me, it means I need to go to bed a little earlier than I thought in order to make up for the time not sleeping. Thanks for sharing and stay warm!

Hope your weather holds. Think we've all seen enough snow this winter.
