Holy biggest loser! I just watched the finale (I had it recorded on my dvr), I have never been so disappointed! Rachel went from absolutely gorgeous during makeover week to something out of a nightmare at the finale. Pity is all I feel for her. Just goes to show you what happens when you become so obsessed with the number on the scale. Im dissapointed that the show allowed her to participate when she obviously had a problem. I watched the episode with my nine year old daughter, I don't want her seeing that glorified.

The true winner was Tumi, she looked amazing!! What an accomplishment!!

Did ya'll watch and what did you think? Looking at Rachel makes me want a couple big macs, stat!

I watched, Rachel did absolutely go for the win and I am happy for her because she worked so hard for it and money can be a huge motivational tool. The one I was I suppose most disappointed at the finale' I think was Holly. I really thought she would have lost more. I think all of them did really well and happy Tumi won the at home prize.

Well...now they are saying that someone going from 260 lbs to 105 in five months time was too much too soon. She was losing on average 8 lbs a week. Fitness experts are saying that losing more than 1 1/2 lbs a week is too much. Since Rachel was originally from Minnesota and was a state high school swimming champion here...the news stations around here are really covering this issue. Our local NBC station tried to ask the biggest loser producers what plan Rachel was on that allowed her to lose that much that fast. The show refused comment. Evidently the coaches were whispering OMG when she weighed in. They also knew that was too much. Now the CBS station in Minneapolis is doing a story tonight on the best way to lose large amounts of weight. Should be interesting to hear.

Too much too fast was the least of my concern, she lost too much period. Even her BMI was at an unhealthy lever, you could see how the muscles in her arms had completely wasted away. I think this will end up hitting the headlines as an anorexia/bulimia awareness thing. They were supposed to have been supervised by doctors through the entire process and I honestly feel like the show failed her. Money or no money her health should have been top priority, poor girl. Now shes going to face all this criticism ... im still crazy shocked. And yes Bea, I was dissapointed by a few of them, holly rueben and hal come to mind.

Didn't someone win like 1/4 Million dollars? That would've been damn good motivation for me!! *lol*

Not a watcher of the show but reading the comments. This is the second time it's been brought up about Rachel. Is it physically possible for anybody to lose 8/week? My niece had the surgery and lost 5-6/week, but she too decided to starve herself to accelerate the weight loss. And she was 325 lbs. when she started.

I did not watch the show so just googled images. I wonder how she is - really? It's easy to judge based on looks, but who's to know. Like I said I did not watch the show, just looked at pics - my comment is had I never seen her at the weight she started, I would have thought she looked pretty and had a great smile. I truly hope she does not have an eating disorder and I hope she can maintain a weight that she is happy with - now that she doesn't have to compete.

I tried to watch that show a couple of years ago hoping it'd give me inspiration with my journey - it did not. Watching those folks be yelled at and shamed .. just wasn't for me... esp as I am taking this time around to love myself and my work in progress. I think the 'after the show ends' percentages are about par with every other 'diet' though ... many have regained the weight they lost plus some; but some have kept it off and made a new life for themselves. I suppose there's a balance but I don't respond well to boot camp barkers.

No CR Rachel was in the 260s when she started. I think its definitely possible to lose that much weight that fast when you have professionals managing your intake and all you do is work out. Healthy... probably not. She left the ranch looking fit and wonderful though. She must have been reading my mind when I thought "shes got nothing left to lose" because she came back without her muscle mass. Now thats dangerous!! Hope the show can rectify the situation by getting that girl some help. I agree Bella, I dont like the boot camp style at all.

I didn't watch either, but saw the pics on MSN news...and I think she just did what she felt she had to do to win the big bucks. Hey, she can put that weight back on again and look great, but until then, she's now $250,000 richer.

Yeah but so many young people watch those shows and idolize the 'losers', if she was just going skelator skinny to win then thats absolutely ridiculous. Being in the public eye should present you with some type of moral obligation to be a positive influence for younger generations, not promoting anorexia/bulemia lifestyles to be a 'winner'. Besides, watching her all season, I really dont believe she would stoop to that. Tough competitor or not... thats nuts

I don't care what anyone says, there is no safe way to lose 8 pounds a week for 5 months, even under a doctor's care. It's pretty evident someone screwed up on this deal and NBC didn't monitor what was going on. I'm sure there is going to be a lot of backlash from this.

So, while doing the program, I wondered if she was also a puker in order to lose that much weight in that period.

Very true Wayne, and CR I wonder the same thing myself. The truth will come out, it always does eventually.

You know I'm a math guy :) ~~ The numbers don't even make sense. She claims she was on a 1600 calorie a day diet (bullshit, excuse my French). To lose 8 pounds a week mean she was losing 1.14 pounds a day. 1.14 x 3500 calories per pound means she had a 4000 calorie a day DEFICIT for FIVE MONTHS. In other words, she was exercising to the tune of 5600 calories a day. Again, bullshit.

I would have to agree. It hadnt occured to me during the show that she could have been purging because she looked so healthy, but she was also working out which was preserving her muscle mass. There were a couple weigh ins that she blew out of the water, if shes a purger it definitely started there.

While I didn't watch the show, I did see that, at 5'5", she went from 260 to 105 (!!) in 5 months. 105 at 5'5" is under a healthy weight limit. However, The Biggest Loser isn't called "The Healthiest Loser" or "The Most Balanced Loser." In order to win the quarter million, the objective is to just lose the largest amount of weight possible. It's the premise of the show itself that I disagree with, not Rachel's tactics - she played the game right, it's the game that's messed up in the first place. Just my two cents.

Joaquin... that's what we love about you. You tell it like it is.

Here's my next 2 cents...which is worth exactly that. I've known people in real life who would actually diet (starve) to win money. I personally don't have that kind of mind, which is why I've battled my weight all my life. I agree that the show is not geared to show the healthiest weight loss. Look at who are the sponsors of the show. All making millions on Americans conflict with food addiction. I know I'll never see 105 because I like food.

Interesting two cents pepper, I never looked at it that way but you are absolutely right. Another interesting two cents from bea about the sponsors... hmmm. I agree with both of you and now ive got something to ponder on. :-) thanks for the change!
