Annabelle3117's Journal, 07 January 2014

Hello loves! The level three snow emergency has been lifted, woohoo lol. Tomorrow twenties, then the weekend will bring highs in the thirties!!! I think I'll put on my tankini and catch some rays. A special thanks goes out to mother nature for showing me what cold really feels like, I won't forget so please don't do it again! Last night it got to the point my husband and I were nailing blankets over the windows to try and keep a little extra heat in, and give the poor furnace a break. Burrr!

The random number generator keeps generating lower numbers, so I'm glad for that. I have to admit losing the holiday weight was so easy that I'm a little spoiled in that department. Now that I'm back on to fat loss I have to keep reminding myself that it takes time. I posted a new side view pic yesterday, a 'before' pic for the biggest loser challenge. If you compare that pic to my November side pic in the blue tank top I think you will notice some belly fat shrinkage lol. Always good to see! I love that I've taken pictures the whole way, nothing could be more motivating than seeing my progress. (But what's more motivating than my own progress, your progress! I love seeing the before/during pics!)

I had a moment of brilliance yesterday! Once I'm done with my couch to 5k, I will officially consider myself a runner. Holy guacamole, what a day that will be! We have lots of really nice bike trails around here, and I can't wait to run them with my boarder collie when it warms up. Well guess who else can run with me... my daughter! She will be ten in June. I am trying my hardest to teach her proper diet and nutrition, because until a year ago she was headed towards the same overweight teenager path that I went down. (Proud to say that her jean size has stayed the same from last year to this year, thanks to my super mom changes lol) I don't want that for her, and what better way for her to get active than with me. Having been a young girl I know how much I loved to do anything with my mom, and the thought that this could be 'our' thing. I'll start her slow of course, but I'm really hoping she will love it. A new motivating factor for me, when I'm dying while running my couch to 5k program. I know I can do this for me, add her to the mix and I can't fail.

Speaking of running and dying, my legs are finally feeling a little better today lol. This is good, as my next run will be tomorrow... so long as these kids go back to school! I believe I'm going to plan my runs Saturday, Monday, Wednesday. Fridays will still be gym days, just normal cardio/strength. Sounds legit to me. Five months till tank tops and short shorts, gotta go hard.

I've been crazy thirsty lately and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I'm putting lemon in my water for the vit C boost. Is lemon a diuretic?? Maybe it's just the dry air, who knows!

So those are my thoughts for the day, I know I'm forgetting some things, I always do. I hope everyone is keeping warm and staying safe!

Congrats on being the mom most of us wished we had or were when it came to eating and health. Proud of you.

What a great Mom you are and what a great role model. Good for you and your daughter is a lucky lucky girl. Drink lots of water and have a great day!

It's good to be a role model - the hardest thing *I* had to remember was NOT to tell my grandsons 'eat every bite on your plate' - tough too because you know children will take two bites, be done, and then hungry again in 10 minutes. Tough not repeating the same songs we learned as kids that led to our unhealthy ways (at least mine, of overeating). Just a thought - have you had your blood sugar checked? ((related to the constant thirst)) - change of WOE will affect it.

That is great, Yo!!! What a difference! You're doing fantastic. And I agree with everyone when they say that being a good parent and a good role model for your daughter are so important. And Bella, so right about having trouble not making some of those same mistakes with my daughter. But I *know* a big part of my problem is (and always has been) that I just can't leave food on my plate... and there is no doubt in my mind that comes from "clean your plate" syndrome. So I am very careful not to make that mistake with my girl. WTG!!! I hope she gets into running as much as you are hoping. That will be a win-win, any way you look at it. Keep smiling, Yo!

Thank you guys, I'm trying. I've never had to tell my daughter to clean her plate, she's always licked it clean lol. She is a big eater. My son on the other hand, he's a pain in the bum. My big issue with my daughter is teaching her portion control, without letting her know I'm watching what she eats. I would never ever insinuate to her that she is less than perfect, as I was criticized a lot as a child and that took it's toll. I had a jackass uncle that always made us finish our food, now every time he's around I only nibble on the food then throw it away in front of him... "what ya gonna do about it, old man". lol I'm a nut like that. (but he was a super ass, who got his kicks making our lives hell) Bella, thank you for your concern but this thirst has only been for like the last day or so lol. If it continues I will definitely look more into it!!

Make an example of portion control. I learned years ago that using a typical tablespoon or small serving spoon works well when wanting to keep the portion size down. Grew up where the serving spoon was the size of my hand.

You are an inspiration, Yo, your weight loss journey has been fabulous, and with the healthy life style changes of working out regularly? You've got this thing licked! And now to be able to bring your daughter into it with you? Wow, now it's starting to sound like down right FUN, too! Just don't be too disappointed...when she runs circles around you! lol You're gonna be wishing you had her stamina and energy soon! For those windows, get yourself some sheet plastic...plastic drop clothes will work, and tape those up over your windows, it will insulate way better than the blankets do, and their air tight, so small leaks in the windows won't lead to huge heat loss. ;) And keep doing what you're doing...besides inspiring your family, you're inspiring ME! :)

Thank you so much Char, that means a lot to me!! I usually do the sheet plastic but i have a four legged companion that last year (after I spent hours putting plastic up over the windows and shrinking it to perfection) tore it all down when he saw a deer outside in about twenty seconds flat.... bad dog. New to the family is my nine month old cat, Bella, and im sure she wouldnt mind helping him in tearing it down in a whole new record time lol. CR, I am definitely trying to show good portion control with every opportunity. Big spoons are banned in my house, along with super large plates.

Thank you Steve!! I would love to be able to switch temps with you for the weekend. During the summer I spend all of my time outside. Im missing my pool so badly lol. Of course I would also love to be able to go out sledding or build a fort with the kids but its just been too cold. I will keep an eye on my thirst but im pretty sure its already passed. :-) Have a good day!
