Up early to begin the celebration -- Happy 4th all! After several delays at both airports, the resultant tight connection, a few panicked phone calls, eldest son made it home better late than never! He looks good & sounds good & it feels so good to have him home and my family complete! He's been the more of a challenge to parent, but as he reminds me of me, has a soft spot in my heart where as DH doesn't relate to him as well. My younger son is equally lovable in his sweet, loving way but more like DH -- extremely focused, self-motivated, etc. The two of them together though is priceless!
I'm off to tabata spin this morning, then party prep & the festivities begin at 2. I'm feeling good & ready... so bring it on... hopefully without what DH & boys have jokingly called over the years "PPS" -- pre-party syndrome!
But before I begin my day, I'll stop to pray --
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
And on this one holi-day, and each one meal, moment, bite & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, journal & express my way through with gratitude for all of you, both boys under my roof, a wonderful family & what's sure to be a fun cookout leading into a week of fun (hopefully in the sun) at Lake George. I'll be checking in as much as I can, journaling as much as I need & wish you all a fun & safe 4th! xoxox
