CharleeSue's Journal, 09 April 2013

Well, I survived my first experience with Zumba. Thankfully my friend Becca and I had primo spots in the back row! What a hoot! We had fun and sweat like hogs! LOL!!! Honestly it felt good. I had two initial issues: my feet were ache-y- very tired early into the session. I will need to get different shoes with arch supports. And secondly, my steel knee decided to swell a bit and started barking. I purposely did not write about the experience last night because I wanted to see how I felt this morning. I am happy to say that all in all - I feel good. I have the opportunity to go again on Wednesday nights as well as Mondays. I am considering it. Today I go into the office to work - there is a wonderful area for walking indoors. This is a good thing in light of the snizzley, drizzley rain/snow that has decided to invade our so called 'spring'....which we really haven't even had yet. MN winters - ya gotta love em'. I am re-energized and hoping to maintain a balanced regimen of healthy eating and exercise. Both are not my best attributes. :) But both CAN be!! Have a healthy day. Make good choices so that when you hit the pillow tonight, you can honestly say 'this was a great day'!

Zumba???!!?? GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! I just can't seem to get my brain around actually exercising with - OTHER PEOPLE!! EGAD!!!!! Plus, I have arthritis in my lower back and to tell you the truth I am afraid of jostling myself around a lot. Currently I am trying to use my recumbent bicycle here at home for about 1/2 hour 2x a day.... I have to give you tons of credit!! I am inspired by you today.... I have several friends who swear by zumba - maybe it is time to give it a try!! Have a great day!!

So cool that you are inspiring so many. I agree with lindamakiej. I would never exercise with people around!! No way! I have had a pain free day today, and am totally surprised after spending 15 hours in a car over the past two days. I pushed hard when I walked in school today and in/out of the parking lot. I pray to try the tread mill now......and p.s......you've inspired me since birth.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your first Zumba! Good shoes are a must, especially for those of us with challenged knees, lol. I have some made for Zumba, and a pair made for dance/exercise; both have good arch support. The good thing about them is they give support while allowing lateral movement, which means your shoes don't catch the floor and twist your knees when you move to the side or back and forth. They aren't slippery; you can google "Zumba shoes" and get a better explanation than I'm attempting! Walking is one of my favorite exercises, too. All it takes is a good pair of shoes. :o) You are awesome! I'll think about you in my Zumba class today, and have a great day.
