Hello to all of my FS Buddy's!

I have the funniest story for ya!

Yesterday as I was on my way to boot camp (btw boot camp freakin ROCKED; I LOVE YOU JENNIFER ALCORN!), I stopped at the gas station. While seated in the car with my windows rolled up, a woman on a bicycle knocked on my window (Now, mind you I knew that she was probably drunk) and said, "Hey you got a dollar?" I said, “No I am sorry I don't have a dollar." The women then knocked on my window again and said, "Hey you got a dollar?" By then the store manager came out and told her to get away from my car and off of his property. The woman and the store manager then got into a verbal confrontation. Again the woman turn to me my car window, knocked on it, and said, "Hey you got a dollar?" Now, I was like what the heck is going on here?" I must admit I had a dollar; however, I wanted a pack of gum. I can not go to boot camp without gum! I then opened my purse and reached into it and pulled out the $1.50 that I had to purchase that pack of gum. I looked at it for what seemed an eternity and then rolled down my window and gave it to the woman. To my amazement she was very grateful and then peddled away on her bike. As I sat there, I thought gee she must have really needed that dollar. Better yet, maybe it was about me giving and sacrificing? Who knows? LOL I was able to scrape up some change and get a pack of gum (no real harm done). However, I thought it was the funniest and most entertaining situation!

Later that evening, I took a friend to the grocery store. As we were exiting the parking lot, we were approached by two women who claimed to be stranded, form out of town and needed gas money. I then gave them three dollars. One of the ladies said, “God bless you.” When dropping off my friend at her apartment, the two ladies were walking in her apartment complex. My friend was so mad and said “They just took you for a ride.” I said, “Well it is not up to me to judge them, I will let God handle them.” My heart was in the right place! I don’t want to get to the place where I don’t want to help people because you can not trust them to do the “RIGHT” thing. It is so interesting what extremist we have in our world! I would have preferred the truth over a lie; however, I guess that sometimes disparate times cause for disparate measures? Don’t know...LOL

Okay now for boot camp. Mrs. Alcorn is one tough and motivating lady! She brought her dog yesterday to do some running with us. We did push-up, ran with sand bags, and squats, sit-ups and so much more. A lot of what we did required core strength (the plank). Even more, she announced that she is starting boxing training on Wednesday’s. I am going to order my boxing gloves this weekend. I am so excited about the boxing and feel that finally I get to do something that I enjoy as a workout! Float like a BUTTERFLY~ LOL

Well that is all for now...

Great story! You're right, it is not for us to judge how someone in need of money uses it. I must say, however, that I have done the same and later seen the recipient of my offering purchase alcohol or drugs. I felt really bad about assisting someone's slow suicide. Nowadays, I give out food. 90% of the time, it is received well, but sometimes I have it thrown in my face, ha-ha. My best memory of this happened in New Mexico when an elderly woman approached me for money. She was already drunk, poor thing, deep in her addiction, and I offered her a hamburger. She threw it at me and said, "I don't need that, I need some whiskey." Sigh. I have a great many friends who are recovering alcoholics and addicts, and I just cannot see myself enabling someone still in the disease. But truthfully, it is not for me to judge. "Let he without sin cast the first stone" and what-not, right? Your heart was in the right place; that is what matters.

I wrote a comment and it got deleted!!! Oh well-it's not for us to judge, but we can be discerning. Anyway, good job on the workout and get ready to hit that speed bag....lol..

Yeah Brittiful! I think perhaps I should take your approach and buy food. I don't want to enable people either but, that lady just kept knocking on my window. I was like, "Oh my God! I am cornered." LOL

I have had friends get on me about giving money like that... I have always said WHAT IF. what if that guy REALLY did need cash for his kids food? and i said no and those kids went hungry. sure he may just be a crack head wanting a fix but like you said I am not responsible for that part of it. I couldnt handle thinking that maybe he did have kids that needed to eat. Good for you for doing it anyway. YOur blessing will come and it will be much bigger than 4.50 (i know thats not why you did it)

You really have a generous heart, Girlfriend especially since you didn't have much money on you yourself. Karma will bring generosity back to you in one way or another! Glad you're enjoying boot camp! Sounds like TORTURE to me! LOL :-)

It is torture MB; however, in a sick way I enjoy it! LOL I actually like being sore. How else will I know that I have done something right?!

I can relate to folks asking for money Butterfly. I don't carry any cash or change with me to work. That way if someone asks me if I have any change I can tell them no without feeling guilty. I love Dallas, but there are many people on the streets that need help.
