Hey SBD Comrads, What are your feelings on cheese? My wife and I will snack on maybe one or two servings per day of part-skim mozzarella string cheese (1g carb, 80 cal, 6g fat) and/or a serving of Medium cheddar (6g fat also). I may also grade small amounts of low fat mozzarella onto my salads. We're on Phase 2 (falling back to Phase 1 for a week). The book says it's okay, but I'm wondering if anyone has noticed a slow down in the weight loss with similar consumption? I'd love to hear your opinions.

No I eat all the cheese I want (in moderation of course) just make sure you accompany it with a veggie or some source of fibre. We all know what too much cheese does to the constitution.

Cheese has never slowed me down weight wise & it's important especially for your wife to get the calcium it provides. My major culprit of slow or no weight loss is NUTS. They are supposed to be "healthy" BUT between the high fat content & high calories they totally interfere with my weight loss...alas I love them anyway..sigh.

Great suggestions! I hadn't thought of combining veggies with the cheese. Raw sugar snap peas make a great snack. Fibre is probably a good idea. Thanks "jeanniep". Also, like "LittleMamaMickey" pointed out, I love snacking on mixed nuts, especially cashews and almonds, but was wondering about the effects. They say no more than 1/4 cup per day, which is only a handful. I've resigned myself to a couple here, a couple there as I walk by the bowl on our counter. The salt helps clear the palette, especially after eating fish or other "lingering" foods. Thank you!

From everything I've read and experienced, different people react to foods differently. For some, cheese is a stumbling block, to others, nuts are. I've found that both are ok for me, but I can't have complex carbs (whole grain bread, whole wheat pasta, ect) more than about 3 times a week. You just kind of have to figure out by trial and error which good foods are ok during weight loss, and which are better left to maintenece. Best of luck.

I don't know if the cheese is the culprit. I know that I've been following the diet to the 'T' with the exception of salad dressings. I always splurge on dressings which contain a good amount of fat (even the lite dressings). (I just can't do the fat free dressings). I wish you all the best.

Cheese and almonds make a good marriage. Also cheese on celery. Tonight I did the ricotta cheese, cocoa powder, sprinkle of instant coffee, splenda and vanilla dessert receipe. Taste GREAT! but also tossed in 4 almonds for fiber.
