I am 24 years old and currently living in Berlin, Germany with my longtime wonderful boyfriend, who happens to be Germany. We have lived here now for about 9 months and we love it. I am currently learning German in a language school and writing a fiction novel.

I have struggled with my weight since I first got a mild version of Narcolepsy when I was 9. Since then I've had a lot of weight fluctuation from between 100 pounds to now 175 pounds (current weight, highest ever!). About 2 years ago I was on a special medicine for Narcolepsy that happened to change my metabolism and I lost maybe 15 pounds. However, the med had bad side effects and I had to get off it, however since I stopped it I've gained about 40 pounds and still gaining. So this time I want to give south beach a real go. I've tried and failed to complete the first 2 weeks on it before, but I think I will be able to do it with the help of this forum. My weight has been affecting my self image a lot lately, plus at 5 feet 2 inches 175 is a very unhealthy weight for me, and i think some of my health problems will improve when I lose the weight (back / neck problems, sleep apnea, etc.) plus, with already being tired with the narcolepsy, i'm eager to see if i'll have more energy without the extra weight!

GLOBE TROTTERS!
hi everyone,

just wanted to get a little off my chest, lol. It's been a frustrating week weight loss wise, mainly because I spent 4 days in Hamburg with my boyfriend on vacation and i just ate whatever. We had this AMAZING buffet- vanilla waffles, etc.- a 25 euro buffet that was included with our room- yeah, you can imagine that I did gain a few pounds, at least I think I did. I weighed myself so frequently then it was hard to tell because the scale would fluctuate so much. however I think I gained a few pounds and then lost them doing phase 1 of the beach.

so what i need to get off my chest- I decided yesterday to change diets and start doing the one a trainer had come up for me in january, which focuses on eating every 3-4 hours and having small meals. i hope that that is alright that i change. I managed only 4 days on phase 1 but I just felt horrible for days 3 and 4 and didn't want to eat really anymore, which resulted in me lying dizzy in bed a few times. this has happened to me every time i've done phase 1, around day 4 i feel so sick i stop it. so yeah, i stopped it, i just couldn't feel that bad. i don't know if i just have a weird body makeup or what. i know people have said they've had carb withdrawal and i pushed through it for a few days but just couldn't anymore. on the bright side though, after 4 days i killed some bad habits like eating lots of candy and soda at night.
hope that i can still be part of the challenge.
