gaining 2.6 lb a week
I am a 42 year old married father of two kids and a dog. I used to be a very active person up until about the age of 25, at which time my weight averaged between 170 Lbs and 175 Lbs. My preferred sport was handball, which I played everyday after work and on weekends for hours on end. I started concentrating more on family, work and drinking beer on weekends, and less on being active, but at the same time my appetite got bigger.
About seven years ago my weight was 230 Lbs, and my doctor wanted to put me on blood pressure medication, at which time I refused, and told her that I could lower my blood pressure by losing weight on my own. I did lose thirty pounds in about two months by eating healthier and jogging twice a day, I also stopped smoking and drinking beers. But about six months later I went back to my old tricks again, and so I gained the weight back and then some, I went up to 250 Lbs. Looking ahead a few years, I ended up on the same blood pressure medication that I was trying to keep away from. But the only person that I have to blame, is myself.
Right now my weight loss plan is simple, it's based on eating healthier, lower calories, low cholesterol, low fat, low sodium, less fast food, less junk food, less sugar, more fruits, more vegetables and doing 30 minute workouts on my exercise bike everyday. The only thing that I do different than most people, is that once a week, or I rather say, on Saturdays, one of my meals is something that I like, it doesn't matter if it's not healthy, but even then I keep portion control in mind.
