Thank you, CalynLZ for the great idea. Decided that I too would like a visible peek at how I've done over the last 4 months of this journey:

February........... 3 lbs. lost
March.............. 6.5 lbs. lost
April............... 4 lbs. lost
May................ 3.5 lbs. lost

Total Weight Lost.. 17 lbs.

Measurements:

Inches lost off Waist........ 2.5
Inches lost off Chest........ 2
Inches lost off Hips......... 2.75
Inches lost off each Thigh... 1.5

Total Inches Lost............ 10.25

March looks like an anomaly, but it makes sense. First of all, I was at my peak in terms of having worked up to exercising 6 days/week. Second, I was still in the first flush of my body adjusting to the new RDI. Thirdly, there were more weeks in March compared to February.

April led to some exacerbation of my back issues, so the exercise frequency decreased. Considering an anniversary trip and Easter, I was very happy with that month.

May went as expected, with no gain or loss during my trip to California.

Just need to keep doing what I'm doing and I'll reach that goal of 30 lbs. lost by Christmas!

It's a beautiful day here in the NW, as it has been since Thursday. When I returned from sunny California it was raining here in the NW. The two days after that were overcast/cloudy until about 4 pm, then it was beautiful.

I knew this week was going to be tough, so I am very relieved to be on the other side. I got home late the night I arrived home from CA and had various unpacking tasks and making lunch for work the next day to take care of, so I went to bed very late. Then, my daughter had previously asked me to catch a movie playing in my very own little town on the following night. It was fun, but both of us needed to get home so there was little time to just talk.

Worked Thursday, hit the grocery store, came home to put it all away and prepare dinner in anticipation of attending the Jim Butcher author book-signing event. Got home from that very late, so another tired day Friday morning. Another trip to the grocery store for a couple things I forgot for our BBQ that night. Home to make fruit and green salads and marinate chicken breasts. Had lovely but tiring afternoon/evening with my kids, grandkids, and visiting father. Ate outside and laughed at the antics of my younger son's red-footed tortoise as he chomped on strawberries in the grass. My older grandson was a bit scared at first but eventually warmed to our 11 inch tortoise friend. He kept calling it a "red snapping turtle." It was really cute.

Fast forward to clean up, dishes, laundry and eventual bedtime. I slept like a ROCK last night. Got up around 8:30 and am still in my PJs right now (at 11:30). More laundry and unloading dishwasher. I'm ready to go do some exercise finally.

Hope to finish the book I'm in the middle of, then I can read the new Jim Butcher novel, "Skin Game." I will have to be VERY careful with it so it still looks pristine when my son gets home. I wouldn't want to damage the precious book with that hard-won autograph!

Have a great weekend all!

Well, I'll take it. While I got a fair amount of exercise on my trip and only ate maybe two meals out of 15 that weren't close to my norm, I haven't exercised at all since getting back. So, maintaining is a win in my book.

Yesterday was my middle child's birthday and he is still far away in Sweden. He will be home in 6 weeks and I can't wait.

His favorite author scheduled a book signing in the Portland area (Oregon, that is) for May 29th and my son called me rather depressed that it was going to happen while he was so far away. Of course I volunteered to take the new book to get signed for him.

Wow, did I ever underestimate this guy's fan base! It was beyond crowded. We got there approx. an hour before the event was due to start and waited in a line to get a number and have them fill out sticky notes with what we wanted signed in the book. They sort of questioned whether the author would be willing to write what I requested, which was "Happy birthday to my favorite fan, Athan." I stuck to my guns.

He did a Q&A session, which I had difficulty hearing from outside the store (yes, the crowds reached out into the mall the Powell's bookstore was in). Still, I enjoyed talking to the people around me and I was accompanied by my stepdad who happened to be visiting.

At the end of the Q&A session the author (Jim Butcher) asked whether Ashley somethingorother was in the audience. She stood up and he asked her how she was doing. She said that she was rather embarrassed, actually. He responded that she was about to get a lot more embarrassed in a minute.

At that point her boyfriend got down on one knee and proceeded to propose marriage. She was so shocked. It was very sweet. That wouldn't be everyone's cup-of-tea as wedding proposals go, but if you're a huge fan, I can see it being pretty amazing.

As an aside, I have read every Dresden files book, as well as the series "The Codex Alera," so I am actually a pretty big fan myself. Unfortunately, when Jim Butcher was asked if he planned to write any more books for the "Alera" series he answered that he just has too many other irons in the fire right now. Boo.

The first 10 number range was announced around 7:45 and it was 250 away from my number. Yes, I was in for a LONG wait. In the end, I got my two books autographed and my picture taken with Jim Butcher at 9:45. Then, took my dad for a late night Arby's meal and got home around 11 pm. I have to work today, so I'm a bit tired, but I'm just grateful I was able to do this for my son.

I'm back!

I had a lovely trip to CA. I didn't do anything exotic, but spent quality time with my relatives. I did a lot of walking, although not always the 3.5 - 4 miles that I do here at home. The two pairs of shoes I brought on vacation were not as good as my regular athletic shoes for walking.

Overall I did fairly well in the food choice department. I ate out a number of times and make many wise choices. That being said, I also consciously chose an amazing cheeseburger with a homemade bun, accompanied by parmesan garlic fries. I enjoyed every bite!

It's good to be back, though. Without taking a trip to the grocery store, it is hard to feel "normal" eating at someone else's house. I managed, but I sure missed my food at home!

I am waiting to weigh in for 2-3 days because travel wreaks havoc on my digestive system.

20 May 2014

I decided to get my weekly weigh-in over with early. I am glad to be down another pound in under a week, as I have just TOO much to do this week.

I leave for my trip to California this Thursday, after work. Unfortunately, when I called my husband and asked him to get out my suitcase, he informed me that we had put them in storage. That meant an unexpected trip to our storage unit after work. Since I was out already, I took care of another couple of errands. Since I didn't really plan this outing in advance, I failed to bring a snack with me.

To compound things, once I got home I got caught up in packing, etc, and didn't eat until 7 pm. As I eat lunch at 11 am, this is not a good thing. I'm just glad I don't have a pounding headache like I usually get when I go too long without eating.

Have a great next week, everyone. I won't be checking in until next week, although I will still log my food for tomorrow.
