Today started crappy, with the news that my daughter's husband couldn't babysit this afternoon/evening after all. I haven't been able to go anywhere with JUST my daughter in almost 3 years, so for Mother's Day this year we asked for the opportunity to have this outing.

So, leaving out all the stupid details, my daughter found a sitter and we had our afternoon after all. We met near my work at 1:45 and I drove us to a local high-end outdoor mall we like, mainly because it has like 6 different yummy restaurants all in walking distance. I bought a blouse at J.Jill, she bought some MAC cosmetics, and then we went to P.F. Changs.

We shared chicken lettuce wraps, Waldorf salad, and Mongolian Beef. We skipped dessert, but stopped at Yogurtland for frozen yogurt. For the first time EVER I only had fruit on my frozen yogurt and had a small serving. It was very refreshing.

We then headed to our local Outlet Mall to shop at The Loft. I got a skirt and top and she got some capris and a top. We talked, laughed, walked, and just enjoyed each other's company.

It was a successful outing with food not being the enemy. I consider that a win.

Productive day has me feeling pretty good. It's such a relief to not have anywhere I need to be. My 20-year old son and his girlfriend are going to her Senior Prom tonight. Her mom wants to come to my house to take pictures of the kids and the moms with the kids. So, I decided to take the opportunity to clean thoroughly - dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, Febrezing, changing linens, etc.

Went to the grocery store to restock fruits and vegetables. Bought a yummy loaf of artisan bread and some Safeway Select broccoli cheese soup for my and my daughter's quiet Mother's Day lunch. She'll provide the fruit salad. It will be the two of us with her two little ones, as both our spouses are working.

That's alright, we get our treat on Tuesday when we plan to shop, have a nice lunch, and catch a movie together. We haven't done anything just the two of us since just before her first baby was born (almost 3 years ago). I am really looking forward to a nice chat.

My son who is studying abroad called me today and we had a nice 1.5 hour chat. Still wish he was here, but that was the next best thing.

Just came back from a nice 45 minute walk. It was terrible out yesterday and this morning didn't look much better, but with each hour the skies cleared a little more. That made for a nice view and mild temperatures for my walk - perfect walking conditions in my humble opinion.

Now to get back in real clothes so I'll look presentable in pictures with my son.

Night all!

Beautiful day here in Oregon with mild, high-60s temperature wise. When I got to work, my client was sitting all by her lonesome in the front Fireside room, so I grabbed her sunglasses and we headed out for a nice 20-minute walk.

Then, after I'd been home about an hour and my back was hurting just sitting, I grabbed my sunglasses and music and headed out for a nice brisk 30-minute walk. This is the first time in over two weeks that I have exercised on consecutive days. It felt really good.

Only bummer is, last time I went for a walk my feet were getting VERY hot in my normal trainers and socks. I can't wear thinner socks because my feet move around inside the shoe too much, causing blisters. Since I was only going for a half-hour walk, I decided to wear my old Teva sandals. I tightened the front and back adjustments. They have really good built-in arch support, so my hope was that I'd be more comfortable with my feet breathing more.

Nope, while it felt great to not have hot feet, within 15 minutes I felt blisters beginning to form and when I hit the part of the walk with some road construction, I had to deal with little pebbles getting into my shoe. Boo!! Can't win for losing!

Guess I'll just have to deal with hot feet (and yes, my shoes have the mesh-type uppers that supposedly allow your feet to breath).

Have a great rest of your day everyone!
