I had one of those weekends where I was really tempted to just snack on everything in sight, but somehow managed not to. On my way home from work I did a little grocery shopping and consciously purchased an oversized red velvet cupcake. I have been avoiding baking in general because I don't want the extras sitting around my house. I can't seem to rid myself of my sweet tooth, but I am better able to control how much I partake of.

I cut the cupcake in half and ate it Friday night. It really did not taste anywhere near as good as it looked. I was rather disappointed in the texture and quality of the cream cheese frosting. I can definitely make it better, lol.

I begged my daughter to take the other half off my hands, but she forgot to take it with her. It sat in my fridge all Sunday. I got home from work today and chucked it in the trash. Can you say "WIN!!" I don't have issues with wasting food, but when I consciously only eat half of something, I congratulate myself for not eating it all and look forward to eating the other half at another time. In this case, I just flat out decided that there were plenty of other treats with far fewer calories that I could enjoy without feeling sick or disappointed, so out it went.

I am leaving Thursday after work to drive to Seattle for my youngest sister's college graduation. I will be at a motel one night (with my other sister) and at my older brother's house for two nights. Neither place really supports my eating habits, so I am packing an ice chest for the trip. To help in that regard, I purchased some smaller tupperware containers to portion out pre-cooked meat, vegetables, and fruit or yogurt. My family will probably give me a fair amount of grief for how OCD I'm being, but I just don't care.

Wish me luck! I've survived a number of vacations, holidays, and weekends in this last four months, so I am feeling like I have this!

Today was my long-awaited physical. I started the day off by inadvertently getting up an hour early (5:30 instead of 6:30). I had no idea until after I had showered, dressed, and fed the dogs. I couldn't even take advantage of my extra time with a nice, leisurely breakfast because I was FASTING for my bloodwork, lol.

Anyway, the doctor's scale showed about 4 lbs. higher than my home scale, which is about how it's been in the past.

I don't know my vital signs or blood work results yet, but I am still excited for those to be looking much better.

The highlight was my doctor walking in and saying, "Wow. You've lost 25 lbs. since your last physical! You look great! How did you do it?"

We had a nice long chat, which is unusual for him. I didn't really have any health issues to bring up, so it was just casual.

I had my mammogram and blood work and then went shopping at the Macy's 1-day sale (I know, they are ALWAYS having those!) I finally bought myself a pair of work khaki's in my size so I don't look like a total slob anymore. I also bought two nice tops (size medium, YAY) and pajama bottoms.

Due to my early start today, I was yawning all afternoon at work, but I survived. Have a great weekend everyone! I know I will :-)

I did it! Reached my first goal well ahead of my goal of July 4th! Even if my doctor's scale doesn't show it, I can't wait to tell him I've lost 20 lbs! My physical is on Friday and I'm going to rock it.

Last night was my "walking" night. I have been rather bored with my same old/same old route and there are only so many options where I live. About a year ago I tried to conquer a large hill that heads out into the country. I made it about half way up and had to give up.

With how annoying having my back flare up can be, I have avoided that hill until now, wanting to get my routine well-established. Last night I not only attempted that huge hill, I made it ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP!!!

Yes!

Assuming I don't fall over, crippled for the next week, I think I'll try to get beyond that first hill and on to the next one! I'll let you know how that next goal goes...

Today my husband and I are having a photo session at our favorite park in order to have a nice 25th anniversary portrait to remember this milestone. I got a new hairdo a couple months ago and have learned how to style it. Unfortunately, some days it comes out really good and some days, not so much.

I have been a bit nervous about how it would turn out on the all-important day of our photo shoot. Well, it didn't turn out terrible, but it also isn't at its best. Ah well, at least I don't have to waste any more thought on it!

Tonight after the photo shoot we are having my daughter and SIL over (with the grandsons) for an early Father's Day celebration. My husband and my SIL both have to work on Sunday, so we are working around their schedule. I look forward to spending some quality time with them.

Normally I would be freaking out and saying, "What? How the heck did I lose 2 lbs?" The only reason I'm not questioning it more is that I sort of counted on skipping a week of weight loss with my trip to CA, although I still ate fairly careful and got plenty of exercise while gone (and jumped right back on the wagon when I got home), so I'll count 1 lb. for last week and one pound lost since getting back.

That means I am only 1 lb. from the goal I set myself of losing 20 lbs. by Independence Day. I think I can lose 1 lb. by then, lol.

I guess I just find it comical how our bodies work. I probably had more days right at my RDI while on vacation and a couple pretty close to it since I've been back. So, my body apparently liked it! I'm not saying I'll be upping my intake just based on this one weigh in, but it is a reminder that sometimes we are eating too little.

I'll be attending my son's girlfriend's high school graduation tomorrow. It seems unreal that they first started dating when she was a freshman. She started a new job on Sunday and my son still has yet to get a job. Sigh...

Can't wait to go to my baby sister's college graduation in a couple weeks. My other sister will be in town, so we'll all get some girl time.

Have a great week everyone! Happy "hump" day, lol.
