50 and happily married to the most wonderful man ever. We each have two children from previous marriages

Back in the early days before children (BC) I never had problems with my weight. I developed a slow thyroid during my second pregnancy and ever since, the weight wants to be up close and personal with me.

Like so many others I have tried many diets and eating lifestyles.

Miracle Noodles
Ever heard of Miracle Noodles? If you like pasta then you might want to give these a try...

They are zero calorie, zero carb, zero fat, gluten-free and kosher. I probably missed something else about them but they are great!

Just open the package, rinse in cold water for about a minute(smells like fermented fish - yucky but don't let it put you off)
dip in boiling water for one minute, drain and pat dry on paper towels.

Texture is a bit like cooked mushrooms but they not bad. And since the noodles actually have no flavor they take on the flavor of your sauce.

I made my own "Italian" Sauce:

14.5 oz can fire roasted or "Italian" diced tomatoes - I have used both
8 oz lean ground meat cooked - turkey, chicken or beef
1 garlic clove crushed
basil, parsley and oregano to taste
salt/pepper to taste

puree the tomatoes
combine tomatoes, meat, garlic and seasonings in a small pot and simmer however long you want.

Pour over noodles and serve

I chilled it in the fridge for 48 hours so the flavors got happy and yum!!!

Flavors - seasonings
Okay, so I must have adjusted.

It is amazing how I can taste salt in some foods now...especially Pizza! I know...not supposed to have that but a couple of weeks ago we had it for lunch and it just doesn't really taste as good to me now as it used to.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions.

Here is what I came up with...

Lemon and lime both add good tart
garlic and onion especially with a hint of ginger

Put all those together for a great Shrimp soak (especially precooked shrimp)

I found that I really like the cumin rub on the meat. The Southwestern Flank Steak was awesome!

I will have to try the rosemary and dill tips next.

Flavor...seasonings...
[quote=weebeeme]Is your hubby doing the plan too? If not, his taste buds will find what we are now finding good to be bland.

No...he isn't doing the plan but it is rubbing off to a degree because of how I am cooking and the measuring.Laughing

Seeking a buddy...
Okay, so I have been doing this for a month or so and am hoping to hook up with someone that is in it for the long haul. I have about 50 more pounds to lose on the FFP. I have been semi-sporadic in recording and hope to find someone with a similar goal who is going to be around for awhile to bounce ideas, exchange tips and recipes with etc.Cool

Scales that measure body fat
Not sure if this is the correct forum to put this under but I would like some feedback.

I currently have an "El-Cheap-O" scale that I got for about $10 and of course I got what I paid for. Weighing at the gym and weighing at the nutritionist's office pointed out that my scale was actually reducing my weight by 9 pounds. While that is a nice fantasy, reality is more important to me.

So, rather than continue to adjust it to start out on 9 pounds, I want to upgrade.

Has anyone tried the glass "Weight Watcher" scale that measures body fat (or any others for that matter) and if so, how well did it perform as far as accuracy - weight and/or body fat measurement?
Thanks!
