I'm in my 40's and recently moved to San Diego from Wisconsin. I've been overweight for more than 20 years and have tried many ways to lose the weight and had some success with most ways I've tried. The problem is the weight always returns and then some. I am fortunate to have a lot of support from friends and family all of whom try to help me in any way they can. The VA is also working to help me with visits to the nutritionists and an 8 week class on weight loss.
I weighed my most on June 1st topping out at 576lbs. That was the day I arrived in California. Since then I've lost weight through walking and portion control. This is why I may have a chance to finally succeed.
I've been told many times that people who lose weight and keep it off nearly always keep a food journal and fatsecret has me truly excited as the site makes tracking your meals fun and easy. The encouragement of others on the site, the challenges, the receipes, the weigh-ins, and the sense of community here is great.

Need help with this addiction!
Try home made sweet potato chips. They are easy to make, satisfying and much more healthy. Slice up some sweet potato into thin discs (about 1/8 in thick) put some olive oil in a bowl with salt, pepper and a bit of cayenne pepper. Whisk up the oil then put about 10 to 12 pieces of sweet potato in the bowl and get them coated in the mixture then bake them at 350 until done. Usually takes about 15 min depending on thickness.

I use the toaster oven and whether they cook long enough to get crisp or not is up to you. The taste of the sweet potato is very satisfying. The cayenne gives it just a bit of a kick.
