Worked my a$$ off for this week's loss - and it feels great!! I've become so much more refocused on my exercise (not so much in logging in my food, but I think that's due to the fact that what I've been eating is pretty much the same thing). I don't need much variety in my daily weekday meals - I'm a creature of habit. And, I figure, if I like it, and it's working, why change it? I do eat a bit differently on the weekends, yet still try to stay within my RDI. If I go over one day (what you'd call my cheat or free day), I make sure to really turn on the exercise. But, I've learned to ask myself if it's really important that I cheat (is the food something I've really craved? Or, can I find an alternative that's not as high in calories yet will still allow me to feel fulfilled? I've learned, however, to allow those treats when I do really want them - otherwise, it gets stuck in my heard and I'm wanting to binge on a whole other mess of things! Mind games with myself.

So, I've finished the private training sessions at the kettlebell/TRX gym and just started the classes last night. Boy, did that class wipe me out! Here I thought the privates were hard cause the trainer is watching your every move. Well, this was a different kind of hard! First, the other ladies in the class were all young and already skinny (they are going to get "toned"). So, my 47 year old body was trying to keep up with the 20 something's. But, I did it! And, they were a nice and encouraging bunch of girls. I wasn't the one in the worst shape either! We started off with the TRX and kettlebells (did some new moves) and then moved into another room with rotating 30 sec sessions. Stand on one leg in front of a chair (other leg off floor in front of you) and lower yourself back into the chair and back up (over and over...30 sec is a long time! Ha ha). Switch legs next 30 sec. Wow - pretty difficult. Two stations on the TRX. One on those big thick ropes you slap up and down (heart rate now up) and then over to three stations where you're using sliders. First, hands on ground and feet on sliders and pulling body into pike (or frog) position. Next two, knees on ground and put hands on sliders. First one move away from body and back in, second one doing circles. Omg - this class was a big cardio workout and one of the hardest I've done. Definitely does not measure up to the Zumba, kick boxing, and other classes at my "real" gym (I call this particular gym a "boutique" kinda gym - not sure why....I guess cause it's not the big franchise kind).

Going to ball game tonight with bff's family (I get to meet her foreign exchange student from japan!). Plan to get some cleaning done over the weekend.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

12 August 2014

Hi friends! Been absent sent my last journal due to a few different factors. First, went camping and boating with my family a couple of weekends back. Had a blast! I even wore a swimsuit and didn't feel like I needed to stay covered up with a huge tshirt over it. Also, brother towed my 15 yo niece and me on a round tube (you lie on your stomach, propped on elbows, while holding onto straps for dear life). With all my brother's efforts to swing us past the wake and throw us off, he failed! I used my upper body strength gained from the TRX and kettlebell classes to hang on. Some pretty big waves and we got air a few times, but was still never thrown off. Take that, little brother! Then, while at the campsite, I managed to drop my only form of communication with you all (my iPad). Screen was completely smashed. Took a week to get repaired.

I've been doing well since my absence. I stayed the exact same weight at last Fridays weigh in. Pretty good considering some of the treats I ate while camping. But, I went for enough hikes and did other forms of exercise to ward off a gain. It makes me realize that once I hit maintenance, I'll really be able to keep this up! I'm back on my normal schedule (crazy work schedule) but still getting to the gym at least 5 times a week. I'm hopeful for another loss on Friday. It's exciting to see the weight go away and how the body is firming up. Clothes fit better (pulled a lot of "old" clothes out of the closet and gave away the larger ones to a veterans thrift store). Usually, this is the point I start either becoming discouraged or I start feeling a bit cocky and then it goes all downhill. This time, however, I'm in it for the long haul! I am still very motivated and continue to find things to do to keep up the motivation. I've got the color me rad 5k in October, a kayaking trip, more hiking trips, etc. planned.

Hope all of you are doing well!
