I'm now retired but was a journalist for 39 years then Director of Consumer Affairs for an international company, running consumer education campaigns explaining credit, debt, identity theft and data protection law to consumers. I'm nearly 65 and have been overweight for several years. Two years ago I lost three stone, but I've put most of that back on now. I meet my grandson from school every afternoon and look after him for around three hours, so that is keeping me active. And we have had a little rescue dog for the past two months whom I walk every day for about an hour - so getting some good exercise there, too. I live with my (slim) husband in the south of England. I am aiming to lose at least two stone in the next three months.

trying the atkins
Buy only organic meat, cheese, fish, etc. It may be a bit more expensive, but it really makes a difference - many of the additives and chemicals used in processed foods or to treat animals destined for meat can at worse seriously affect your health or at least affect how fit you feel. When you're eating concentrated protein this is important. You have to feel good to carry on with the programme.
