Feeling very flat these past few days. Weather isn't helping - loads of rain and very high winds interrupted by brief bouts of sun and more bad weather to come over the next couple of weeks :0( . Flooding continues apace over here; I feel very sorry for everyone who is in the affected areas, some of them local to us. Typically over the last two winters we have had snow, so we bought our two older grandsons body boards and all three boys goggles, gloves and face masks for Christmas. They would have been better off with kayaks. The big boys have managed to use their boards down the stairs at home apparently, with the aid of their bedding as safety bumpers. I'm currently watching the men's snowboarding qualifiers at Sochi and marvelling at their skills. Can't wait to see Shaun White in the finals. That'll cheer me up.

It's been an interesting time, as the Chinese curse goes ("may you live in interesting times"), since the Year of the Horse started at the end of January, what with the burglary and all. DH improves bit by bit, day by day so fingers crossed there. Too stressed to track last week, hence no movement on the scales this week - thankfully I didn't gain. Tried a Bosu DVD workout today and failed rather comically to keep up. I'll get there eventually one way or another. Spent more time messing about with the pressure than actually exercising as the underneath of the base seems to have developed a slight convex bulge during non use and I was worried it was over inflated. Will try C25K from the beginning again on X trainer - maybe it will be third time lucky; something has got in the way on both previous attempts (heatwave/DH in hospital), which, coupled with my general reluctance to exert myself physically, has resulted in me needing to regain momentum. I always feel better after exercise, but I need to get my mind round it. That's my biggest hurdle. Now back to tracking. We'll see how this week goes. :0/

Got a workout after a fashion yesterday - had to clean up thousands of bits of safety glass from the carpet at the office after a break in during the wee smalls of yesterday morning. DS and I got called separately by the alarm and met the police there and finally got back to our respective homes and to bed about 4.45 am. Now need new panel in front door to building. Fortunately we don't have anything of interest that's portable anymore as we have learned from being burgled there a couple of times before over the years so all they took were some car keys to vehicles they couldn't drive away for one reason or another (locked in yard with flat batteries or not there after being sold on). We've made the building as secure as we can without actually getting some kind of force field; they used a huge brick and a lot of force to get in this time to no avail. Even the police were surprised at their tenacity. Now we need to do the repairs and get on with it. Not the sort of start to my day I had envisaged. Good news is that DH continues to improve, so fingers crossed there.

A rather surreal day. Had to take DH to hospital, where I've had to leave him at least for tonight. Got the call to take him in before I could eat, but thanks to having low carbed for so long now I managed to keep on an even keel all day and not crash and burn (talk about mixed metaphors!!). I got some 85% dark choc from the hospital shop eventually and had some of that then went for dinner with my son after we left the hospital. Am naturally rather wired and got home thinking that I needed some comfort food (had chicken and salad for dinner, no dessert because I just don't like what restaurants offer anymore); have changed so much with this w.o.e. that my comfort food is now a mug of mint tea and a few Brazil nuts!! There are piles of cakes, chocs and bikkies in the kitchen, but they honestly hold zero appeal these days. Astounding. Will make sure to have a protein shake before visiting time tomorrow afternoon. Even got in a small workout by walking up and down six flights of stairs a couple of times!! Think I may be doing that for another day or two yet. We'll see.
