Wanted to go skiing yesterday, but was feeling too run down. Maybe today, but I can't afford to get sick again. Especially not since my retirement party is coming up Tuesday. I can't quite believe it. On Friday, I'll officially be retired.

Watched part of a good Daily Stoic video yesterday on the power of the word NO. Trying to remember that every yes means a no to something else, and vice versa. It's important to say yes to only the things that matter most.

Very well said, I never thought of it that way, "every yes means a no to something else" I will keep that in mind!

Unity -- I will do my best to do that. 😊 Today I'm saying yes to just taking it easy and trying to shake the remnants of this cold

Liv -- you have NO idea how much I'm looking forward to going up when I want without asking mother may I or having to pass due to a desk shift, meeting, or deadline 😃

StormsGirl -- glad you liked the video! I really like The Daily Stoic. The advice he offers really helps create a sense of calm in my life

JMA -- it's something I need to keep at the forefront of my mind. I've spent too much of my life saying yes when I shouldn't have

Thanks, all! I can't quite believe it's almost here. Exciting, but a little scary. I've spent 21ish years working there -- more than a third of my life -- with this place

So happy for you regarding your impending retirement. Totally agree about the yes versus no concept. I use to be a yes person almost always until I found I was exhausted and unhappy. I literally gave my all at the "office" and now it is someone elses turn. I easily say no.

Morticia -- every time I see advice suggesting volunteering in retirement, I shudder 😱 I have done a LOT of volunteering in my life, and I'm as done with it as I am done with being the always dependable workhorse at the office. In fact, someone even suggested I volunteer in a library. If I wanted to keep working in a library, I'd keep my job and get paid for it 🙄 No, I'm ready for ME time, and I have enough things I want to pursue that I'm not worried about filling my time. It is indeed time to say no so that I can say yes to some things I want in my life

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. I loved my job and was there for 16 years but when time came I was happy. My husband and I always wonder how we got everything done when we worked as we are still busy! lol
