ChrisComedy's Journal, 16 August 2014

I walked three times as much yesterday as I normally do. Either the pedometer is off or all those trips to the bathroom to do laundry paid off. I did a pretty good job of staying hydrated yesterday.

Six-and-a-half hours of solid sleep with no wide-awake episodes and dreaming, two hours of drifting in-and-out listening to podcasts. Get out of bed plank. Eight minutes of the Air Walk Trainer first thing in the morning to burn off glycogen while watching another episode from the first season of "Grimm" I hadn't seen before.

Omron body fat monitor: 21.3, BMI: 19.3 (dehydrated). That's the lowest body fat the Omron has ever recorded.

Today is an up day (eat all I want) on the Alternate-Day Diet and gentle core and flexibility exercises.
148.9 lb Lost so far: 7.1 lb.    Still to go: 10.9 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Right back atcha on the inspirational, dreamcatcher10. The ARC Trainer sounds cool. I'd never heard of one. It's wonderful that you have access to a gym with all those great tools. Have a great weekend.

Nice drop. Your focus on diet and exercise is really working for you! I have been having some issues with sleeping lately. Have no clue why. Hoping it won't cause too much damage at weigh in, which can happen even though I stay under RDI.

kattay, try no caffeine after 2 pm. "The Alternate-Day Diet" recommends wearing glasses after 9 pm that block blue light from televisions, computer monitors, and tablets. Exposure to blue light will keep you up. You can get a pair on Amazon for around $12.

Thanks for the tip. I don't know if there is caffeine in green tea because I do drink that in the evenings. I should look that up. I generally stop drinking coffee at noon or a little after. I never had a problem with the screens before, so will probably have to pay attention to that. I don't watch TV or do computers in my bedroom. Love it cool and dark.

kattay, there's caffeine in green tea, but less than coffee.

This beverage [green tea] has become known as the healthiest coffee alternative thanks to its high concentration of antioxidants and its link to lower risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Green tea does contain caffeine, but a smaller amount than your regular cup of coffee, so you don't end up with the same jittery side effects. Not only can green tea boost mental alertness, studies show it can also make you smarter. One recent study published in the journal Psychopharmacology found green tea is effective at improving memory and cognition. - Fast Company

So funny the bluelight filter glasses after 9pm, I'm usually in bed by then. Wonder why they say a time, instead of so many hours before bedtime. Mmmmm. Kattay, there is decaf green tea. M

You've got the right idea, wholefoodnut. Dr. Johnson devotes a whole chapter in "The Alternate-Day Diet" to the importance of the circadian rhythm in health.
