Banathallah's Journal, 16 July 2014

I failed miserably on my first day of Atkins.lol I did manage to keep my carbs below 100g though. Those darn potatoes are my down fall. Today will be better I just know it. I just need to muster up some will power. I think a part of me wanted to know if I could get away with 100g and below. I see that I can but I know the weight will fat will melt so much faster/easier if I stick to induction plans.

I'm gonna spend some time going over the safe food list and re-familiarize myself with it. At least I already have planned what I want to eat during my feasting window: Salmon patties with 2 heads of romaine. Yum.

I wish I could find a tasty salad dressing with 0 carbs.

Salad dressing suggestion: just use olive oil and lemon - that will come pretty close to zero carb and save you money over prepared salad dressings. There are also some recipes that use cauliflower as a substitute for potatoes to make items similar to potato salad and mashed potatoes. At the Atkins website you can find these recipes or search for "mock potato salad" online. Best wishes!

Pre-plan your menus and stick to them -- no matter what!

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm gonna try it tonight. :)

Yes, if you get a good mashed cauliflower recipe it tastes a lot like mashed potatoes. Tell yourself you will do induction for a certain amount of time. Then you can start adding back in some foods (OWL). It might be slower loss, but it may also make it more sustainable.
