Down 2 pounds, so although I am frustrated at the time its taking the scale is moving in the right direction. I'm a big believer that you get what you put in, but I put in more than that. In the last 29 days my body fat has gone down one percent and muscle has gone up 1 percent (according to my 'smart' scale). I'm not confident that the one percent of muscle weighs enough to account for the slow loss, but I've been wrong one or twice before ;-) The big picture is that I've lost sixty five pounds, I am healthy and fit. Today I will make time to sit back and bask in the glory of that big picture.

I will not make it to the gym today. Lots of wind damage from the storms that came through has closed all the local schools, and I will be worrking from 7-7. Yes, I am at work now lol. So I'm going to make good food choices, and try to focus on staying positive.

I'm wondering if I should cut back a smidge on my strength training. I really don't want to, but with only two weigh ins left of the biggest loser challenge I want big numbers. I don't want to lose the muscle that I've aquired though. I wish there was anything simple about weight loss. Why can't we just push a couple buttons and get a print out directly from our brains telling us exactly what we need to do lol. I guess that would make us robots though. Ill just keep truckin, nothing bad can come of all the positive changes I've made.

Happy Friday everyone!

I would think you need to figure out what is more important, hitting the biggest loser goal or reaching your end results faster:)

Thank you, Classic. It is always a good feeling. Both of my goals are important, Just_keep_swimming, but the biggest loser title comes with a cash prize. My husbands birthday is right after the final weigh in and I would love to be able to do something special for him. I'm not going to give up strength training, I think for the time being I am just going to lower my weight back down and increase reps to maintain the muscle I have, rather than building more. At this moment the number on the scale matters a lot. Twenty pounds in eight weeks just isn't good enough for me, and I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. Perhaps I'll start working out with my kettle bells on days that I don't go to the gym to supplement my calorie burn. I know I'm rambling at this point lol it's how I figure things out. Anywho, those are my thoughts. As always, I appreciate the support!

I believe that you can do whatever you put your mind to. But I worry about your expectations just a bit. To lose 20 pounds in 2 months is really good for a normal person who is not starting the weight loss journey. In the beginning, you lose faster but as you get closer to normal, the loss slows down. Sometimes a geat deal. I think if you look at your food intake - you are not starving yourself. I think you eat a rather normal diet. You are living with a deficit of calories due to your work outs but even those folks who are on the Biggest Loser TV show deal with 2 and 3 pound losses when they get to to your size. And they work out constantly and are not trying to live a normal life as you are. I don't know if you are going to win the challenge (my guess is that you will) but if you don't - I don't think it is going to be because you have not put in the work. And I think the short term goals are great but for your own sanity - keep your eye on the long time goal... Healthy happy fit Yolanda. 2 pounds a week is an amazing loss and you have Changed Your LIFE. That in itself is HUGE. I know it is hard not to be discouraged no matter what the scale says. 1 pound should have been 2 or 2 should have been 4 or why can't I lose 5 pounds a week??? Always remember that you are living your life and will be living this way for ever...... To get the ideal weight loss each week you would have to do NOTHING BUT weight loss stuff. You just can't live that way.

Ok I'm going to share my secret of a quick reduction of the numbers on the scale. Detox sister....basically just drink water and decaffeinated tea for one day...no food. And you should drop a couple more pounds. This is most likely all water weight but you will see a loss. It isn't that bad if you do it for only one day. I also have apple cider vinegar (Braggs) to really clean my system out (I put a couple of shots in a glass of water) because I use this as a detox , the weight loss is just a side bonus. Be sure to stay near a bathroom and always have something to drink and you will be fine!! One last thing..if you weigh in on a Fri, you may want to detox on a Thur.

Yay Yolanda! Personally, I wouldn't drop the strength training to appease a bunch of yahoos for some Challenge :) - but hey, that's just me. :)

Thank you Wayne & Smartin. Wayne, would you do it for a couple hundred smackaroos? lol I would try your detox smartin, but I don't want to 'trick' the scale and just have the weight go back up once I get some food in my system. Maybe I ought to save that detox for the day after Thanksgiving lol, might make the weigh in a little less harsh. I could never detox on a normal weekday, as I work M-F. I know that you are absolutely 100% correct Alex. I try to keep my calories up and I don't want to fall victim to the super low cal crash diet and gain as soon as I stop. I know that I'm doing this the right way and that am guaranteed that every pound lost is fat, and only fat. But somehow I still feel disappointed. Maybe I do have crazy expectations of myself. It was just so effortless in the beginning, do the work get the results. It just seems like it's getting harder. Perhaps stress is playing it's part? Whatever the reason, you have motivated me to keep going. To stop beating myself up forge on so to speak. I still intend to add some kettle bell training, but for the time being I won't do anything drastic. I'm sure my husband is tired of hearing me complain already this morning, but he doesn't know how much worse off he would be if I didn't have buddies like you! Girls night tonight, going to eat some Mexican food and forget about the scale. No alcohol, No tortilla chips, no fried rice; Those are my rules, I'll make me proud yet.

Awesome job, down 65 lbs!!! WTG! For what it's worth (which probably isn't much), I'm down with Wayne on this. Stick with the big picture... worry more about the end-goal, and less about the challenge. Your health is worth WAYYY MORE than a few hundred bucks. But, you'll make the right decision no matter what, and you know you'll be happy with that decision. BEST WISHES, and keep up the amazing work you've been doing.
