GOOD MORNING to all of my lovely, wonderful, BEAUTIFUL, health-minded Fat Secret Peoples!

Well Yesterday I blew my calorie count all to hell. But on the bright side I went to Yoga and musta drank enough as well. I am starting to wonder if my calorie guildelines for, myself are too low. I seem to be losing at a higher number. But then, it could be because I tend to naturally cycle my calories too. I am just not sure but I don't want to over analyze it either.....things that make you go hmmmm

Old Man Scale: A gentleman again! I don't get it, but I am not complaining! Down another lb and once AGAIN at my preholiday December weight. This time I will push BEYOND the darn barrier, but I DO need to start eating better foods.

On a side note I did start taking the generic Statin Med about 3-4 days ago. I am scheduled to go get my blood retested in 6 weeks.

Since you think they might be too low, what is your calorie goal? I don't know how accurate your calender is, but I wouldn't think that 1800-1900 calories would be too low. Have you tried getting your BMR, AMR, etc. to find your estimated calorie target?

As my information at the bottom says I shoot for between 1500 and 1800 whenn I am being "good" And no I had not looked at those numbers. But I KNEW the conventional wisdom (on this site) is that the 1200 is too low so I went higher....

you do need to find out how many calories you should be eating to lose. you might be eating to maintain too, not too low. idk. what i did see on your diet calendar, is that your sodium might be too hight. also, you have to trade that bagel for 100% whole wheat toast, or english muffin. i haven't found a 100% ww bagel. but we just do NOT digest enriched flour... so try that, or at least cut back to half the bagel adding more protein??

The weird thing is I AM losing...not that I am not. It's weird. I am eating a less healthy than is my wont and still losing. The sodium might not be accurate as the lasagna is home made not actually sbarro and has a LOT less than the equivilent I logged in. So because I am losing while stil making poor choices makes me think I had been cutting my calories more than I needed to, before.

I agree with not over analyzing, I know from experience it can make some people a little obsessive (like me!) There are so many variables surounding weight loss that I have now adopted the 'if I lose I'm happy, if I don't then I will just up my exercise' idea. Your natural calorie cycling seems to be working for you and that's wonderful. Have a healthy weekend! (O:

Well, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you're losing then you're probably at the calorie intake you need to be at. Just remember that better food choices means more food for the same calories.

I amnot going hungry, LOL I need to eat better for my cholesterol though, I KNOW this ;)

Oh yeah! I forgot all about that (ADD in overdrive). In that case it's not even an option. You have to eat healthy and maybe even workout like crazy. Weight has a huge influence on cholesterol numbers, so you have to stay on track. Exercise improves cholesterol too. So drop and give me twenty! And then eat a lot of oatmeal, walnuts, and beans... though hopefully not in the same meal. LOL

SO my BMR according to one site is 1833.475 so I am not TOO far off in what I am generally aiming for. I was also using burning more than I eat according to this site's calculations....

BMR is the amount of calories you would burn if you laid in bed all day. So, what about activity (not including exercise). Take your BMR and multiply it by... 1.1 if you are mostly sedentary (desk job)... 1.2 if you are somewhat active (sales person)... 1.3 if you are active (personal trainer)... or 1.4 if you are very active (construction worker). That's your AMR. So, let's assume you have a desk job like me. Multiplying your BMR by 1.1 gets you 2017 (rounded). That's how many calories you're burning with your normal activities (assuming the desk job scenario). A pound of fat is 3,500 calories so if you wanted to lose a pound per week you would need to burn 500 calories a day. You could do this by subtracting 500 from your AMR (1517) or subtracting a certain number of calories and burning off the remainder with exercise (more reasonable). Is it confusing yet? LOL My AMR is about 2340, that's why I stay around 1800 calories per day (2340-500=1840). I actually eat about 1700 calories on the days I don't work out and about 1900 calories on the days I do workout.

I have a desk job but with my business I end up running around more than most who do. I would still count it as sedentary. As I aid I sorta use FS calculations for my AMR when I decided on 1500 - 1800 a day in the first place :)

Numbers make my head hurt. Eat healthy foods aimed at your cholesterol reduction and exercise and see results. Simple, huh? NOT! :) But try, try, try! We want a healthy Sima!
