Ruhu's Journal, 25 June 2013

Saying goodbye to our current guests, then a nice break until Sunday when my SIL & family arrive (but remember, are staying at our lake cottage). We had a great visit this go around -- bitter sweet at times remembering their son/our friend & past neighbor who passed away from ALS, but I know they love hearing all the old stories. We're very fortunate that we live in a neighborhood -- moved here 18 years ago when my boys were 3 & 6 -- where several of us became good friends (adults & kids), socialized a lot, did annual ski trips together, etc. So, over the years, we've accumulated many kid & adult stories. Anyway, it was fun for us to re-tell them & I know they love keeping his memory alive through them.

I'm feeling good as I'll say good-bye to them this morning, then will play some outdoor tennis, work & catch up on the household stuff. And, at weigh in, I'm back at goal after a fun, long but healthy and mindfully eaten weekend. And, will start gearing up for the next guests & then the week away -- you'll be hearing more about that, for sure!

But, for today, I'll start in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And, for this one transitional day, and each one meal, moment, bite & emotion, I'll continue to pray, breathe, journal & express my way. Didn't sleep great last night, so I'll also be on high alert for the tiredness that likes to disguise itself as hunger! And, I'll again be grateful for my health, family & friends (including all of you, of course!) and many, many blessings! xoxox

Glad you had a nice visit with your friends. It was probably good for your friends to reminisce about old times including their deceased son. How very sad for them to have lost a child. I can't imagine what it would feel like to lose a child? Great job on your diet plan and keeping your weight down.

Wow. How many were the first set and how many for the second set. I haven't even had a minute to PM you. Is this weekend the big one?

This past weekend we just had 2 visitors for 2 nights. On Sunday, SIL, her DH & their 3 kids arrive, but are staying at our lake cottage. DH & I are still working out how much/where we'll see/entertain them. Then the following Sat we go to Lake George with them, DH's other 4 siblings & their families, MIL & some extended family for the week. It's a week from Sun that we have the big party there & it's sounds like there will be 80 at the party -- thank goodness we're having it catered. Remember, I'm the culinarily challenged one!
