I feel great! One week on program and I've lost 4.5 lbs which is a great jump start and will help keep me motivated! I expect my weight loss to taper off but as long as I'm developing healthy habits and the scale is moving in the right direction - I don't care. My goal is persistence - NOT perfection.

I haven't been able to loose any weight for so long - this is just what I needed to show that I can do it!

This site and being Mary Jean's buddy have made such a huge difference this time. I'm learning to eat in moderation and to incorporate foods I truly love. For example, Mary Jean was the one who gave me the idea to try using mashed avocado for a sandwich spread. The grocery store didn't have any good avocados so I bought the "Wholly Guacomole" that comes in the pouch and is sold in the produce section. It is only 1 WW point and made my otherwise boring turkey sandwich such a treat! In regards to moderation, I have a hard time throwing away food, especially foods I put a lot of time and work into. I made almond shortbread raspberry thumbprint cookies for Christmas and I've been eating just 1 cookie at a time. It doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment but for me it is huge!

I went to yoga tonight - the first time since before the holidays! It was wonderful - I was so happy to see the class has doubled and almost half are med students. The practice of yoga is so centering, I'm glad to see these students giving themselves this wonderful gift.
