Just curious, how many carbs do any of you think I should be in taking on a low carb diet? I'm 23 5'4" and currently weighing 166 trying to get down to 135. Don't know if all the information matters or not. But would just like others input. Thanks

Induction of Atkins is 20 carbs a day. If that's the diet you're wanting to do. I don't do low carb, I have in the past, just answering your question :)

Then after induction the carbs slowly increase, also not on low carb. Used to be when I did the yoyo thing.

Isn't that the truth. Atkins is definitely a yoyo for me, to the extreme. Great losses but even better gains. Never again.

I just could not follow the Atkins plan all the way through and continue eating low carb. Last time I tried it simply made me sick, too much meat and fats.

Atkins is a major challenge, especially for the first few weeks. I increased my net carbs on a gradual basis. I try to keep my net carbs around 60 to 80 a day and allow myself days of special treats which might bring my net carbs to 90-100.

Thank you all. I just didn't know if some people should be in taking less or more depending on weight and height or something.

under 100 is still low carb, as long as your carbs are not "real" carbs - breads, starches, etc. in my opinion, veggies are an essential part of weight loss and a permanent lifestyle change like taking the weight off and keeping it off. some people can stay with atkins but it is pretty extreme; if you go that route, it's great, but if you don't you will be fine with limiting your portion sizes and limiting bread / pasta / potato / squash; gluten and white flour and sugar is addictive. if you can cut those out and replace them with real whole foods you will see dramatic results! good luck! also keep in mind, that each body is different and what works for one, will not work for another! you're off to a great start!!!!
