Ruhu's Journal, 11 March 2014

I'm back, and feeling human again after a long travel day on Sunday with a very late return home for this early bird. Of course that was complicated by the time difference & daylight savings time change. But I'm feeling good again, & great about the trip. It was the first trip in awhile where I was truly relaxed & able to enjoy myself without all the crazy, obsessive thoughts about food. Of course, they were still there & may always be, but those voices are getting quieter & letting life regain its joy… I couldn't be happier!

Plus I learned several things that I want to remember from this trip --
*Be sure to pack my letters in my luggage -- 5P's (Pause, Plate, Progress not Perfection, & Prayer) and 3C's (Curious, Calm & in Charge). Even during stressful times (such as the lost luggage on the trip there, which did by the way finally show up on Sunday), my 5P/3C plan plus breathing & journaling, will get me through & allow me to relax & enjoy.
*Make time for me, but remember that I missed being with the group after too much time alone, especially when its activity focused rather than food/drink focused, so finding a balance is key.
*The toughest time for me is still the return trip home, especially if I'm alone, & I did have a later than midnight snack when I got home late, tired, & feeling hungry (or so fatigued that it felt like hunger). But, I was curious through it & know for the future its better to not travel too late nor alone if/when possible. While I would have loved it be a food-free re-entry, I made progress by eating foods that kept me on my course mindfully.

And, now I'm back, ready to catch up at home & with all of you that I've missed so much! I'm off to workout this morning, then to a dr appt with my oldest (he's moving from his pediatric neurologist to an adult one -- but has been seizure free for over 2 1/2 years on medication) and home for catch up here after. Tonight, I'll finally get to catch up on your journals & can't wait to hear whats going on with you all! But, first, I'll pray --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And I'll continue praying, breathing, logging, posting & expressing through this one day & each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion. I'm so, so very grateful for each of amazing you, my family & IRL friends, having had a truly wonderful & fun-filled trip with much progress, and coming home to this life I love with the health & wealth to truly enjoy it! xoxox

Good morning, salut (a la Bren) with the coffee: So glad you enjoyed your trip and that your tool bag made the trip safely, and wasn't lost - lol. Glad too that the other bag turned up! I think 3C5P would make a most interesting charm bracelet ~ one only you would know unless you choose to explain it to the people who ask. Welcome home and very well done, kiddo.

Home Sweet Home! Get some rest. Glad DH's clothes showed up. That would have made for a really expensive trip.
