Good Morning buddies! I have safely arrived at work, despite mother natures efforts to keep me home... or in a ditch somewhere. We didnt get the snow they had promised (boo) but we got freezing rain followed by a couple inches of snow, and wind gusts that will knock your socks off. -40F windchill tonight, burr! Anywho, despite the snowing and the blowing and the eight deer that couldnt resist dashing out in front of me this morning I have safely arrived at my destination, and the deer are fine too lol.

As i had figured all of the schools are closed so Im working from 7-7. I worked my bum off at the gym yesterday to compensate for missing today. Im oh so smart like that. I did my first day of the couch to 5k program... that stuff aint no joke! My lungs, oh my poor lil lungs were on fire!! I remember when I first started cardio on the elliptical and my lungs hurt adjusting to that, so i know it will get better. I need to remember how hard this was so that when it gets easy i can appreciate how far ive come. The running intervals was only a half hour long, so i followed it up with upper and lower body strength training then another twenty min of cardio on the precor. Im a machine! Needless to say, im pretty sore today. Take an off day to let the ol muscles recover. Im going to do kettle bells tomorrow and hopefully back to the gym wednesday for another run and strength training... so long as the kids finally go back to school!! Im loving the fitness goals. Been kicking ass on intake too.

I got some Atkins shakes for an after workout protein boost. I chose this one because its 15g of protein with only 2g of carbs and 160cal. I thought that seemed pretty reasonable. I also like the vitamins and minerals. Im probably not getting as much dairy as i should so this helps with the calcium. And it tastes like yummy chocolate lol. Ive been planning my meals the day before and i think thats helping immensely. I never have to wonder what im going to eat, so im not constantly worrying about food.

Well i hope everyone is well, and feeling optimistic about our first full week this year. :-)

Oh, and I also forgot to mention that i was wheezing like an asthmatic by the end of my run and despite wearing the tightest yoga pants i own they wouldnt stop sliding down. So, to all of my friends feeling a little insecure about heading to the gym in the new year please remember me wheezing and holding my britches up while trying to maintain a decent pace :-) Nobody said it was going to be glamorous. Lol

Hah! That's great, Yo! And I'm glad the deer were ok too! That couch to 5K workout sounds amazing. And while you were exhausted and breathless by the end of it, I can read it in your words how excited and satisfied you were that you did so well with it. That's what it's all about! Keep going on this, and you're right -- when you are running in the event, and doing it so much more effortlessly, you will really be impressed with how far you've come! GREAT WORK! :D
