I work full time in advertising/marketing in Southern California. I have had a lifetime struggle with weight. I'm so tired of the battle and feeling like I'm missing so much of life that's out there. My 2013 goal is to reach and exceed my lowest weight as an adult that I can remember (235 lbs., which was 20 years ago).

Tips
Honesty. With yourself and your choices...whether good or bad. Acknowledging and tracking what you eat and how much activity you're getting. As soon as you start playing games with yourself and don't "count" that snack or skip a workout and think "it won't hurt just this once" then you're approaching a slippery slope which can easily turn into multiple days of getting off track. Better to face it head on, accept your choice and own it: I know this will put me over my calorie limit but I accept that and will enjoy it, track it and move on. Or, I choose to skip my workout for today only because of "X" and understand how it will affect my health goals today, but I will commit and get back on it tomorrow.

What do you have to be thankful for in life
I'm grateful for this site. That someone cared enough to create a place like this that is free of charge and sensible and encourages self-motivation and self-reliance for making life changes. I'm especially thankful for all of you who share your wisdom, humor and encouragement. Checking in here with all of you daily keeps me on track. Better than any other approach I've ever taken to weight loss and health. Very Happy

Permisson to Brag
This morning after I finished my workout, I was putting my dumbbells back on the shelf at home and, in all honesty, was flexing a little bit for fun as I did it for my husband who was watching. He smiled and said, "Wow, I think I'll be taking a brand new woman on our cruise next month!" YESSS!!! Very Happy
