MrsTofu's Journal, 31 December 2010

I was deliberately trying to avoid 'new year's resolution-y' type challenges, but I've finally caved. What led me to give in contrary to my original reservations was the fact that the objectives within the challenge seem good and reasonable goals for me. (Especially in terms of being organized/ establishing a healthful and productive routine.) My issue with New Year's resolutions is the almost climactic timing. I think if you want to change something for the better, why wait? Why do you need a special 'date with destiny' kind of moment to begin something that can be started in the moment when the drive and desire are new and vibrant? Also with resolutions is- I think- the subconscious notion of expected failure. It's a seasonal fad that often leads to disillusionment. I don't want to get caught up in something like. However, it is what is. I am not going to continue avoiding a chance for good change simply because of the coincidental timing; I need to remember to just go day by day.

WoooHooo!!!!!!!(* singing 'Yatta' to myself * :P ) I just realized that I am finishing the year strong. Today is the 4th consecutive day that I'm under my RDI, and the 5th consecutive day that I have a calorie deficit. I feel so ecstatic because I don't feel deprived though I've consumed fewer calories. I've gotten better at recognizing how much food my body really needs, gauging calorie content, and eyeballing serving sizes. I still need to drink a lot more water, and it would be better also for me to get more activity into my day. (I need to recalculate my RDI because my body fat % and weight have changed since it was first calculated.) :) This is the kind of encouragement that I know will help me keep going should dreary days aggravate my depression. Yea!!!! *happy dance* :-D
