Another victory today! 96% RDI before exercise. It therefore seems quite appropriate to catch up on the gratitude mini challenge. Since I've missed recording for several days, here's a larger list to substitute for the individual days.

20 things I am grateful for:

1)My daughter's health. Some mothers have the hardship of seeing their children struggle with various health issues. As hard as it is for adults to face serious illnesses it is even more heartbreaking to see children face them.

2)Good relationships with most of my immediate and a lot of my extended family.

3)Close friends who have been extraordinarily helpful and encouraging during hard and/or trying times.

4)My OB who knew I wanted to have a natural childbirth and advocated on my behalf when my neonatal specialist wanted me to be induced after my daughter missed her due date. (She was born 4 days after her due date.)

5)The nursing shift change the day I was in labor. (I was in the hospital about 10 hours before my daughter was born. The morning shift nurse was horribly discouraging. However, the second shift nurse was wonderful. She was calm, alert, and empathetic. She helped make it possible for me to have the birthing experience I had hoped for while looking out for my baby's safety.)

6)It's been seven years since the last time I was hospitalized for depression.

7) Despite missing a whole year of school I was still able to graduate on time with all of my credits.

8) My husband's resourcefulness.

9) Having the freedom to eat most foods/ not having any major dietary restrictions.

10) Being able to be a stay at home mom.

11) My inlaws, especially my mother in law.

12) Being able to visit my maternal grandmother a couple years before she died.

13) The times my sister is able to visit from out of town.

14) Electricity.

15) A gas range and a large kitchen.

16) Finding really cute, reasonably priced boots that fit. (I have trouble finding shoes my size. I have wide feet, so generally I fit a women's size 10 or a men's size 8 shoe.)

17) For the opportunities to study other languages.

18) Small victories when it looks like I am fighting a Pyrrhic battle. They remind me that things aren't always hopeless even if they feel that way.

19) Being able to learn from mistakes in my past.

20) Being able to receive forgiveness.
