Friday seemed like redemption. Yesterday seemed like a fall from grace. I think today feels like repentance or t'shuvah. I want to be better about how I relate to food. I can still finish the day under my calorie budget if I'm careful, but it would be tight. So to help ensure that I have a calorie deficit I took it upon myself to try to get more exercise. I went on a jog around the block using intervaling. My overall speed averages somewhere around 4.4 mph. I feel kind of pathetic that it wasn't higher than that, but at least I got out and did something. I covered 1.6 miles in 22 minutes.


So now I've had dinner and I didn't quite make it. I am regretting the hot chocolate that I had earlier. (Oh, but it was REALLY good. Rich and creamy and exactly what I need to not have so much of so that I can make the most of the calories I have to use.) Right now I still have a deficit for the day because I jogged. I am struggling internally because I can almost hear the loaf of challah in my fridge beckoning me in a soft, sultry voice. 'Eat me. I'm soft and delicious, you know you want me. Come on, it's not that bad if you have JUST one slice.' BTW, for me, I can never really leave it at just one slice. I am trying to stand my ground and not cave in to the sweet tooth/ carb cravings that I am having. Technically I am not hungry. I just want to eat because it feels good in the moment. :-/

Now at the end of the day I can say that today I won out over temptation. The last thing I ate was about 2" of a small banana as an energy resource for walking home from a friend's house.
