Densible's Journal, 13 October 2008

Did well today until about 3PM. I think it's a combination of hormones, life stuff and the weather. We have Santa Anas now and a few fires burning. Air quality is getting bad-the windy dry weather has triggered allergies and sinus pressure. I could not/would not focus on work and did not want to interact with anyone. I went home early to rest but couldn't. Wandered around the house bored and restless. Ended up eating a few teaspoons of ice cream-bah! I hate when I eat out of sheer spite!

I replaced that old pic of me with one of the beast. He has been so rambunctious lately. I wish I had his energy and joi de vivre.

I hope the fires do not get worse. It is so scary-we had bad fires same time last year. I lost everything I owned once in a fire. Saved my animals-thank G I was home-should have been at work but was dawdling at home because I hated my job at that time. It is a terrible thing indeed.

I seem to be losing weight-back down to 143 today-actually 142.8. It's surreal. I hope I can maintain this-the funny thing is I am not working at it as hard as I have in the past. I am logging my food as before and trying to keep under 1K cals per day, BUT am not working out everyday-went to the gym twice last week-first time I have been in weeks. I am not sure what is going on-hope it's not some cruel trick.

My hair is falling out at an alarming rate. It's been going on for about a month and I am visibly balding on the front part of my scalp. This has happened in the past-in spite of regulated thyroid levels. It has grown back to some extent. Still losing now and am worried about being bald. It's genetic as well as stressed induced. I hope it stops. Oh my gentle J-I wonder if my hair loss equals my weight loss? There, mystery solved!

Thanks-yes I am going to make an appt. with a hair specialist-well it's really a hair replacement place but it's at Cedar Sinai Hospital. I have been to many doctors over this issue and once they rule out PCOS and Thyroid is okay they move on...I am going to up my B-vits too-thanks for the tip. I am taking a chinese herbal remedy too.

By all means get a B vitamin complex. Also you might want to try using the Nioxin hair shampoo and products for your hair. I use them and I could swear my hair is "healthier".. I want to say thicker because I know it seems thicker to me, or maybe its just the new haircut I've had since I changed shampoo's?? Do you go to an endocrinologist? When they test your thyroid do they give you the count of both T3 and T4? The other thing about being under stress lately, boy oh boy!!! that could easily do it too. You know its true that my hair turned gray so fast during a time when I was under a lot of stress and worry. So if stress can make hair turn gray, then it could probably make it start falling out too. You need to really try to get some peaceful thoughts into that head and the hair will just grow the way flowers do when you talk to them. Maybe get some CD's with uplifting messages and tones. I have some with sounds to help me sleep..and for weight loss and yep they have sounds to make you feel happy too! Good job! I love the pic of your beast! You've talked about him being with you so much, its nice to "meet" him.

Hey Lady! I do use Nioxin (for 5 yrs or so) and was using minoxidil for a long tome too. I think the Nioxin helps sometimes-especially to get rid of the DHEA clogging my follicles. I also get those thyroid levels tested. My endo is very disinterested once he had my levels stable. Does not seem to care about my weight issues or hair loss issues. I really want a new endo.I know my problems are trivial compared to some of his patients but REALLY! I will look into the CDs though-GREAT IDEA. Just took my vitamins and herbs too. Otis Podotis Pudding Pie aka The Beast is my love. When we are sad and despondent, a little animal love is essential. Good night and thanks agin for responding. I am going to get a handle on the hair loss-I am not ready to be bald for bald's sake.

You have a beautiful dog. Sorry about all the stress that you are going through. Try those CD that Janelleas is talking about. Can't hurt!
