read this article yesterday ...from sparkpeople.com was about pedometers..and thought i would cut an paste it in here....

Pedometer Features

The average American takes 5,000 steps a day, which is only half of the 10,000 daily steps recommended to achieve good health. For weight loss, 12,000 to 15,000 steps a day will help you achieve your goals. But who's got time to count? That's where the pedometer comes in. A pedometer is a nifty little gadget that counts your footsteps by sensing your body motion. They range in price from $5 and up. Here are some common features that will affect the price and versatility of your pedometer:

* Distance and speed estimators (calculated by programming average stride length, or with a GPS system, which is more accurate)
* Calorie expenditure estimators (calculated by programming weight)
* Stopwatches
* Heart rate monitor
* Steps per minute
* Computer compatibility, which allows the user to upload data from the pedometer and graph stepping progress.
* Flip Case (to prevent accidental button pressing)
* One of the most important features a pedometer can boast, however, is comfort. It should not be bulky and should include a safety strap, so you don't drop it down the toilet. The best place to wear a pedometer is at the waist, aligned with the knee.

Time Involved: 15 minutes

Take good care of yourself, Mike! I'm sorry you've got an injury. It can be so difficult to have to stop but remember you might be able to modify your exercise plan to help let that injury heal. For example, my heel is not completely better, but I find that biking and swimming are fine. I love to run but won't be doing it until I have lost another 20 pounds at least. Slowly my heel is improving. Can't wait to see what the doctor says about your weight loss and also about the foot!

Hope all is well with your feet! You may have to take up weightlifting while they heal. Update us and let us know how you're doing and your doctor's reaction to your weight loss!

i called for an appoinment today ...doctor is off today an tomow..but i have an appointment for wed afternoon..so i been keepin them elevated and stayin off them...yes i could go to the emergency room, but as long as they arent botherin me that much, then why pay for an emergency room charge when you can put it off...if it gets worse then yes i will do somethin sooner...thanks everyone ... ive been layin in bed thinkin of other ways to get workouts in to stay off my feet as much as possible..and i do have dumbbells that i could lay on the floor an do different exercises with...so it might come to that...figured i would just take a few days off from exercising...most ive ever took off since i started was 3-4 days...and at same time it might be good just to have the rest...the last time(couple of years ago) before i started workin off the weight...doctor used an ubi soft cast on my foot as i had same problm before..was a wrap, like gauze soaked in calamine lotion and was wrapped for like a week...then just cut it off and i was ok again...will kno more wednesday afternoon...
