I am a fifty-two-year-old high school English teacher. I have been happily married for thirty (30) years to a retired high school baseball coach. I am also the proud mom of a twenty-two-year-old college baseball player. He is in college near the EAST COAST! We are in the MIDWEST! SIGH!

My son plans to teach and coach as his dad has. Both my husband and my son are very, very active and physically fit. I have always thought of myself as relatively active; however, I can not keep up with these two!

A loving "buddy" introduced me to this site and I really enjoy it! My goals are more about inches, good fit in my clothes, good health, strength, and great attitude than they are about weight loss. I am not a scale watcher because I become extremely discouraged when the numbers do not go down! Instead, I like to measure my progress by noticing how my clothes feel on my body.

Now that I feel better, I am starting to watch the scale numbers with some confidence. I weighed 170 in June of 2008, a month before I joined FS. I weighed 165 on that day I joined FS and after about a month I decided to follow The South Beach Diet.

On Sunday, October 5, 2008, I met my goal weight of 140. Then my scale went haywire and I wondered if that weight was accurate. I started again!

November arrived and I RESET my goal weight. I am now aiming for a healthy, firm and toned 135.

I am only five foot one (and three fourths) so extra inches really show up. I am pear shaped. Pears are sweet. So am I! Sometimes!

USING FAT SECRET TO SELL PRODUCTS
I have noticed recently that some Fat Secret members seem to be using Fat Secret as a place to peddle their wares: cosmetics, candles, accesories, etc.

Harmless links? Perhaps.

I understand that these members desire to sustain their livelihood but I grow impatient when I log on to obtain helpful information about healthy lifestyles and-or weight loss and -- instead -- I see links to products Fat Secret members are selling.

Oh well. I will take a deep breath, choose not to click onto such links, and remain grateful that Fat Secret is a FREE site.

What I did RIGHT today for ME!!
I took pleasure in the way my legs felt sort of "little" in the bath water when I bathed this morning. I took pleasure in putting my body lotion on in front of the full length mirror. I took pleasure in wearing Hanes cotton briefs that did not ride up because they are too small. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

GREEN SEA TURTLES
The only advice I can think of is from PAST experience. For these days only - IGNORE the scale.

Reward yourself generously for following through with the process. Give yourself big pats on the back for exercising, eating right, resting, drinking lots of water, and staying the course.

The (fat) secret is to reward yourself for walking -- not for losing four pounds. When your "aunt" leaves - so will the pounds plus some!

Just think - "the process - not the product - the process - not the product - the process - not the product!"

One Week Positive Thinking CHALLENGE!
When I walk - I chant various rhyming mantra's over and over.

They are very silly and very private, but these words help me to be positive. I get lost in the moment and time goes so fast when I am walking at a fast pace.

I say things like, "Heat the brick (muscle) and melt the butter. Burn the fat and rid the clutter." "Protein, veggie's - not much fruit - watch the starches - give a hoot." "Sweat is sexy - sweat is good - work that body like you should."

I know these sayings are silly but any kind of positive language really helps!

GREAT JOB TO EVERYONE AND WELCOME
These sound like delicious products. I am not following the Jenny Craig plan but I have heard lots of good things about it.

Do you know whether or not JC has gift certificates? I have a much loved friend with a birthday coming up. I will may do some research to find out.
