I am a fifty-two-year-old high school English teacher. I have been happily married for thirty (30) years to a retired high school baseball coach. I am also the proud mom of a twenty-two-year-old college baseball player. He is in college near the EAST COAST! We are in the MIDWEST! SIGH!
My son plans to teach and coach as his dad has. Both my husband and my son are very, very active and physically fit. I have always thought of myself as relatively active; however, I can not keep up with these two!
A loving "buddy" introduced me to this site and I really enjoy it! My goals are more about inches, good fit in my clothes, good health, strength, and great attitude than they are about weight loss. I am not a scale watcher because I become extremely discouraged when the numbers do not go down! Instead, I like to measure my progress by noticing how my clothes feel on my body.
Now that I feel better, I am starting to watch the scale numbers with some confidence. I weighed 170 in June of 2008, a month before I joined FS. I weighed 165 on that day I joined FS and after about a month I decided to follow The South Beach Diet.
On Sunday, October 5, 2008, I met my goal weight of 140. Then my scale went haywire and I wondered if that weight was accurate. I started again!
November arrived and I RESET my goal weight. I am now aiming for a healthy, firm and toned 135.
I am only five foot one (and three fourths) so extra inches really show up. I am pear shaped. Pears are sweet. So am I! Sometimes!
