pisces19's Journal, 04 July 2010

So, it has been nearly a week now and my weight is back down again, two more lbs. I'm going to go ahead and attribute the previous day's gain to not enough water.

Yesterday, I did a job staying on track with everything, until I had the idea of visiting with my parents in the afternoon. They were going to garage sales and I had a desire to go out and do something frivolous and enjoy the weather and walking around at garage sales seemed like a pretty good idea to me, so I decided to tag along. The only real problem with this is that I had my morning snack but did not anticipate on being out for the many hours that we were, and so I was away from home without anything for lunch. They had already eaten, but I convinced them to stop so I could get something to eat. They were nice enough to buy lunch, so I was able to keep my resolution not to eat out for the month of July intact, but our choices were limited and they were set on fast food, so we ended up going to burger king.

I ordered a side salad with caesar dressing and a tendergrill chicken sandwich. The salad wasn't super exciting (some of the lettuce looked less than fresh) but, I picked through it, dumped the tomatoes and made do. I ate that first, so I would be less hungry for the sandwich of course and then ate the sandwich. Their new ciabatta bread is totally yummy! The sandwich was good. I realized on reflection that I should order it without mayo if I ever decide to get it again, however, and when I felt like I was basically full I quit eating it. I had about 10-20% of it left.

Now can I just say one more time, I LOVE MY PHONE!! I especially love the calorie counter program on it. I added the calories to my journal right away, and it ended up only being about a total of 500. Not bad for fast food really. In fact, just having my phone there and seeing the calorie content of what I was eating before I started eating it really helped me to stay on track and quit eating when I was satisfied!

The food I ate hit me fast and furious and by the time I got home (around 4:30) I was hungry again. I decided to do a low cal snack and just ate some strawberries for a snack, which carried me through until dinner, but by the time 6:30 hit I was STARVING!! In fact, I probably even waited too long to think about dinner because I was so hungry I almost grabbed whatever was near me and just started eating it. However, I used my willpower and decided to work on making dinner instead, by the time it was about ready I wasn't even terribly hungry anymore. I made a yummy low cal dinner (black bean chili w/ avocado and a side of sesame ginger asparagus). It was a little bit of a strange combination, but absolutely delicious! I wanted to go back and eat more of the asparagus it was so tasty, but I decided it wasn't really a good idea or necessary. I was just gonna wait for a half hour or so and if I still felt hungry I was gonna have some decaf mint tea instead, but I ended up getting distracted and forgetting about it. Guess I didn't need it afterall.

I got to bed at a decent time last night for the first time in several days and slept in until 8:30 this morning. Now here is the really good news! I have been feeling more energized and in a much better mood than I was a week ago! The diet is working wonders! I feel like I can refocus on accomplishing tasks and have decided to do whatever makes sense to me as I go along. I've already accomplished a lot today and am just rolling with the punches. No lists at the moment, (not really), but I am trying to make sure that whatever I am doing during the day I am making my diet and health a priority in that, and that I am working on things that I see needing done a bit at a time, but not obsessing over them. I just feel really great right now!
