Lizzie983's Journal, 29 October 2012

I talked to a friend yesterday, she had diabetes during pregnancy and she risks to get it again in future. She suggested me to do regularly sports to prevent diabetes, and increase my weekly workouts from 1 (as it is now) to at least 2. So, till it was summer/autumn I did even more, since I really love being outdoor walking, but now it's snowy and it's going to be tough for me. I don't like anymore to go to the gym just having a step class, since it is a very light workout and it's kind of boring. So, since I am going to the swimming pool once a week, will try to go indoor climbing every other week. The other weeks of the month I will try to do yoga at home, at least once a week. In the past I used to practice yoga at home 3 or 4 mornings a week. It helped me a lot to feel better and to better perform at work and studying.
Winter got started and I am pissed off... I don't like it!! No way to stay outdoor and no way to get sunlight...

I still spend plenty of time outside, no matter if it rains, hails or snows. Haven't really got a choice, but I have learned to deal with the cold by putting plenty of layers on :) & I mean at least 4 or 5!!! Hey if yoga helps you....do it more often.

Hi Schmetterling! You are right about yoga! The point is that I am not used at all to stay outdoor when it's cold, by culture. It Italy people don't even ride a bike when it's cloudy or rainy and just stay home when the weather is not perfect... So, I have to change that!!!

Hi! I'm in Oregon where we have lots of rain and cold, so I'm used to going out in it. I do prefer to exercise in the gym when the weather is bad. I go to Zumba (fast Latin-dance work out), a conditioning class with light weights, water aerobics, and some yoga. I love yoga, just don't do it often enough. I can also do Zumba at home with a DVD. I have an exercise bike in the garage, but that is pretty boring. You can look at videos of Zumba on the Internet if you aren't familiar with it, though one if my instructors just got back from doing her thing over in Germany, so I suppose it's international. I did indoor climbing years ago and enjoyed it; not as much as the real climbing I did back when I was in college! I have great mountain memories. Thank you for reminding me how much better yoga can make me feel; I will practice more.
