Wow guys, things have been crazy here!!!
So the guy from Alaska called on Thursday evening then yesterday I'd run errands with my grandma and was over there talking to her and my mom and getting ready to leave to come back home and I got another phone call! This time it was from the Park Ranger at Fort Scott National Historic Site (http://www.nps.gov/fosc) in Kansas. She wanted to offer me a position out there this spring/summer. Something happened with her spring applicants, so she was calling all her summer ones to see if anyone would be willing to come early!
The intern position would be museum intern - so I'd learn about how to clean the artifacts, the correct lighting to use, pest control, etc. and they do living history there, so I'd have to dress up sometimes and also give guided tours. It would only be 12 weeks (or more if I want it since I did apply for the summer). Housing would be an apartment in town and one thing I didn't realize that with any internship through the SCA (so that would include the Alaska one) there's a $75/week stipend...at least that would pay for groceries!
It was great, she said my application was very impressive and my references had great things to say about me and that the fact that I geocache really jumped out at her! The park system in Kansas is trying to start an initiative to get youth back outdoors and that's one of the main components and somehow she got put in charge of it and knows almost nothing about it, so I could help her with that.
I will probably take it, and have to let her know by Wednesday. It's so exciting that I'll be in Kansas around the 20th of April. I need to find an exercise place out there!
Woo hoo, I'm excited about it!
